Born in Rahway, NJ, and died in Detroit. Resided at 762 Brush Blvd, and had been associated with his father (Elison Ely Duncan)and his uncle in the malt business for awhile and later worked for the Detroit Water Board as a bookkeeper. He was prominent in Masonic Lodge Circles, a member of the Union Lodge. He married Lucia Florence Clark , in Detroit, 4 Apr 1877.
