DAVID E. HEINEMAN
Lawyer, publicist; born, Detroit, Oct. 17, 1865; son of Emil S. and Fanny (Butzel) Heineman; educated in Patterson's School; Detroit Public and high schools (president of class of 1883); University of Michigan, degree of Ph.B., 18887, Law Department, same university, 1890; unmarried.
Practiced in Detroit since May 4, 1889; specialties; financial and commercial negotiations and as counsel.
Director Detroit Fire and Marine Insurance Co., secretary Merz Capsule Co. and other companies.
Chief assistant city attorney, 1893-96; member state legislature, 1899-1900; projected the Belle Isle aquarium, and introduced the present state tax bill; member Detroit City Council since 1903 (now president common council); appointed by governor member State Board of Library Commissioners, 1903, and reappointed for four years, 1907 (now president); president League of Michigan Municipalities, the largest civic organization of the state, comprising the cities of the state, their mayors and officials (now serving second term); Trusties League of American Municipalities, the chief national organization of pamphlets and prepared many contributions and reports along lines suggested.
Republican. Jewish religion. Member Masonic order, Blue Lodge, Chapter and Council; B.P.O.E., I.O.O.F. Clubs: University, Detroit Boat, Old Club, etc. (some twenty Detroit clubs and societies) Recreation: Foreign travel, fireside reading.

Michigan State Legislator. He also designed the flag for the City of Detroit in 1907.
