banker; born, Detroit, Mich; July 12, 1852; son of Herman and Frances (Kehle) Kiefer; graduate Bishop Union School, Detroit, June, 1867, and Detroit High School, June, 1870 and Detroit Business College, 1871; attended School of Mines, Columbia College, New York City, 1870-71; School of Mines, Freiberg Saxony, 1873-77, School of Mines, Berlin, 1877-78; returned to the United States and engaged in mining in Utah and Colorado, 1878-81; married at Detroit, May 12, 1879, Fannie Weber. Entered banking business at Detroit, Mar. 1, 1882, and is now secretary and treasurer of The Wayne County Savings Bank; treasurer and director Michigan Sulphite Fibre Co.; president Nipigon Transit Co.; secretary and director North Shore Timber Co. Member Phi Gamma Delta. Club: Bankers’ Office: Wayne County Savings Bank, Detroit. Residence: Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
