HARRY MILTON LAU

Lawyer; born, Adams Co., Pa., Jan. 6, 1872; son of Hezekiah and Katherine (Hollinger) Lau; educated in public Scbool and Dntroit College of Law, grad- uating, LL.B., 1896; married, Detroit, November, 1900, Belle Gillie*; 2 tons: Harry Gillies, Frank Howard. Came to Detroit, 1889, and entered abstract office of C. M. Burton, where he studied law, attending night school; began practice, 1897; traveled for a year and returned to Detroit as attorney for tho Detroit Construction Co. and attorney and promoter of various railways; now in general practice. HARRY MILTON LAU

Coming from sturdy Holland stock. Harry Milton Lau was well qualified to carve out for himself a career as a lawyer. He is a creditable member of the Detroit bar and stands well with his fellow members of the profession.

Mr. Lau was born in Adams County Pennsylvania, June 6, 1872. and is the son of Hezekiah and Katherine (Hollinger) Lau. Originally the Lau family came to America from Holland and the name was Von Lau. Harry Milton Lau came to Detroit in 1889 and entered the abstract office of C. M. Burton, where he also studied law. He entered the Detroit College of Law. from which he graduated with the degree of LL. B. with the Class of 96. He was admitted to the bar and started the practice of law in 1897. He then traveled for a year, and upon his return became attorney and promoter for various railroads with which he was quite successful. He is now, however, confining himself to the practice of his profession.

Mr. Lau, whose family has been in Pennsylvania for more than five generations, is now an esteemed citizen of Detroit. He is a member of the Detroit Bar Association, the Detroit Board of Commerce, Palestine Lodge. No. 357, F. & A. M., King Cyrus Chapter. K. A. M., and of Monroe Council.

He was united in marriage to Miss Belle Gillies, of Duart. Ontario, and Mr. and Mrs. Lau have the following children: Harry Gillies and Frank Howard.
