JOSEPH G. STANDART
Born, Monroeville, O., July 17, 1834; son of Henry W. and Ann (Gardner) Standart; educated in public and private schools of New York state; came to Detroit, 1855; married, Ohio, 1858, Mary C. Miller. Has been engaged in hardware business over fifty years; was with Buhl & Du Charme, 1855-63; in 1863 organized, with his brother, the firm of Standart Bros., wholesale hardware, and incorporated the same, 1900, as Standart Bros., Ltd., of which he has since been chairman. Veteran member Detroit Light Guard. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Republican. Member St. John’s Episcopal Church. Mason (Union Lodge No. 3). Clubs: Wayne, Old Club of St. Clair Flats. ROBERT W. STANDART
Born, Auburn, N.Y., June 12, 1846; son of Henry W. and Ann (Gardner) Standart; educated in public schools of Auburn; married at Brookline, Mass., 1876, Harriet C. Hyde. Came to Detroit, 1863, and entered store established by his father and his two brothers, Joseph G. and George; was admitted to firm (Joseph G. and Robert W.) as Standart Bros., 1873; and became treasurer of the company upon its incorporation as Standart Bros., Ltd., 1900. Treasurer Newsboys’ Association. Member Detroit board of Commerce. Club: Country. Recreation: Driving. Office: 155-169 Woodbridge St. Residence: 99 Edmund Pl.
