FREDERICK C. STOPEL
President Burnham, Stoepel & Co., wholesale dry goods; born, Saxony, Germany June 3, 1846; son of William and Catherine (Koehler) Stoepel; came to America, 1852; educated in public schools of Michigan; married at Tecumseh, Mich. July 13, 1881, Ann R. Sutton. has been a resident of Detroit since childhood; began active career in employ of Campbell & Linn, retail dry goods; was clerk for Allan, Sheldon & Co., wholesale dry goods; assisted in organizing firm of Burnham, Stoepel & Co., 1875, became vice president and treasurer, 1902, and has been president of the company (inc., 1902) since decease of James K. Burnham, March, 1907. Director Old Detroit national Bank; vice president National Cutlery Co. Republican. Appointed jury commissioner for Wayne Co., by Gov. Warner, 1905. Congregationalist. WILLIAM C. STOPEL
Born, Saxony, Germany, Oct. 17, 1854; son of William and Catherine (Koehler) Stoepel; came to America in infancy; educated in public schools of Detroit. Began in office of R. Hawley & Son, malsters and continued for seven years; was secretary and treasurer of the Michigan Malleable Iron Co. from time of its organization until 1885; associated with A.C. McGraw & Co., 1885; the firm becoming the Michigan Shoe CO., 1895, when he was elected its secretary and upon reorganization, May 18, 1898, was elected secretary and treasurer. Congregationalist. Office: 148 Jefferson Av. Residence: 23 Selden Av.

HERMAN R. STOPEL
Born, Detroit, Dec. 23, 1859; son of William and Catherine (Koehler) Stoepel; educated in public schools of Detroit; married at Detroit, 1887, Miss Jessie Van Court. Began active career as clerk in employ of W.S. Penfield, hardware; then went upon the road as traveling salesman for various hardware firms; was sales manager Michigan malleable Iron Co., and became treasurer and general manager of the Gale Manufacturing Co., manufacturers of agricultural implements, Albion, Mich., 1887, continuing for seventeen years; returned to Detroit, 1904, to take charge of present business, which is conducted in his own name. Also director National Cutlery Co., Detroit. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Presbyterian. member Masonic order. Recreations: Outdoor sports. Office; 330-332 Lafayette Av. Residence: 1055 Jefferson Av.
