HENRY KIRK WHITE


Vice president D. M. Ferry & Co.; born, Unadilla, N. Y., May 26, 1839; son of Joseph and Mary (Miller) White; educated at Gilbertsville Academy, N. Y.; married at Monroe, Mich., Nov. 19, 1863, Cholistique Amanda Fortier. Removed to Illinois 18 years of age and taught school one year; came to Detroit, 1859, and entered employ of M. T. Gardner & Co., now D. M. Ferry & Co., seedsmen; admitted to the firm as a partner, 1865, was elected treasurer of the company upon incorporation, 1879, and has been vice president since 1905. Also president Gale Manufacturing Co., Albion, Mich., agricultural implements; vice president Acme White Lead and Color Works; director Commercial National Bank, Wayne County Savings Bank, Michigan Fire and Marine Insurance Co.; officer and director in many other corporations. Trustee Grace Hospital; director Detroit Home and Day School. Republican. Presbyterian. Member Masonic order, Chapter, Commander, Shrine. Office: D. M. Ferry & Co., Detroit. Auditor D. M. Ferry & Co; born, Unadilla N.Y., July 10, 1844; son of Joseph and Mary (Miller) White; graduate Gilbertsville Academy, N.Y., 1864; married at St. Louis, Nov. 22, 1871, Nellie A. Van Court. Came to Detroit, 1864, and entered employ of D. M. Ferry & Co., seedsmen; was admitted as member of the firm, I871, and has been auditor of the company since its incorporation, 1879. Vice president and member executive committee board of directors Union Trust Co.; treasurer Acme White Lead Co., Columbia Shade Cloth Co. of New York; director Cadillac Motor Car Co., and of the Commercial National Bank; officer and director in a number of other corporations and business enterprises. B., 1892; married at Toledo, O., June II, 1901, Florence Hoag. Began active career as secretary of the Gale Manufacturing Co., Albion, Mich., 1892, continuing until 1902; has been president Kemiweld Can Co., since February, 1902. Secretary Euclid Improvement Co.
