A serious affair has lately happened at Detroit . The following are the particulars of it as received by a gentleman at Washington . A soldier deserted the British line and took refuge in Detroit . He was pursued into the American territory by two British officers, with a file of men, but was protected by the magistrates, who can only surrender in cases of murder and forgery. The British thereon endeavored by force to carry him back, when an affray took place between them and the inhabitants, in which one of the British officers, a Mr. Muir, was shot through the leg, after whey they retreated, leaving the deserter at Detroit . The British officers were each bound to appear and take their trials at the Detroit May Court, under a given security of 1000 dollars each. (Contributed by Nancy Piper>

"I didn't think Francis would ever be able to walk and run like other children," Mrs. Jeannette Binkowski explained as physicians sought to save her life- Ironically, physicians at Children's Hospital revealed that the child, operated upon twice recently, would have been able to walk normally after a contemplated third minor operation- From the distraught father, Barney Binkowgki and two surviving children, Edward, 11, and John, 10, police learned the story of the shooting early Sunday, when Mrs. IBinkowski took Francis from his bed to the basement where he was slain.

Fred Farrow, 38 years old, wounded Saturday morning in the left knee by a policeman's bullet when he ignored a command to halt, admitted to detectives in Receiving Hospital that he had ransacked a dry cleaning establishment at 3241 Puritan Ave., police said.
Farrow was shot at Plum St. and Third Ave., where he had abandoned an automobile loaded with stolen clothes and burglar tools, police said. Patrolmen Lee Goniea and Louis Morrell, of the Central Station, drove alongside at First St. and Bagley Ave. and ordered Farrow to stop.
They said that Farrow drove on for several blocks and then ran from the automobile, Goniea firing at him. Police said that a gun was found on Farrow.
A Recorder's Court jury some time ago acquitted Farrow of a slaying charge in connection with the death of Arthur Hall, who died March 13, 1932, from being beaten.
