UNION CHURCH AT DOUGLAS

Will Be Built This Summer - Congregation Is Organized There

At Douglas this summer a Union church will be built.  This interesting information was given out today by Rev. W. W. Bunge, pastor of the Church of Peace here.  He and Rev. Meade of Pine Island, have been conducting services there alternately on Sundays in the past.

At the German State bank of Douglas Thursday night, a meeting was held and a church congregation was organized for the purpose of building a Union church at Douglas, the church to be open for all religious services.

It is to be called the Union Evangelical Church of Douglas.  Following are the heads of families interested: Frank Koelsch, Henry Fuchs, John Koesch, R. J. Tweeton, Carl Koelsch, Richard Kohn, John Feil, Conrad Koelsch, Henry Koesch, Gus Klan, E. W. Douglas and Wm. Hetzel.

Constitution and by-laws were adopted and these officers were elected:

President --- R. G. Tweeton

Secretary --- Conrad Koelsch

Treasurer --- E. W. Douglas

Trustees --- A. H. Fuchs, Gus Klan and Frank Koelsch

A week from Sunday afternoon there will be a meeting in connection with the services to which all people interested in the religious work, are invited.

A public spirited man, Mr. Otto Kohn, has donated a lot and a half of very desirable property for the church which, it is planned, will be open for all religious services.

The church parlors are to be fixed up for the use of the entire community.  It is planned to establish a community center there.
