ESCAPED MAN IS CAPTURED
Inmate of State Hospital Who Disappeared Several Years Ago, Taken
The police here yesterday detained Al. Burant, insane, who escaped from the Rochester hospital for the insane several years ago. He had been employed as a laborer part of the time since his escape but his condition is now on the decline. He was returned to Rochester yesterday, and there he will spend his last days, for his physical condition is poor. [The Daily Post and Record, Rochester, Minneosta, April 5, 1915]
While Irving W. Fox of Rochester was repairing a revolver and working upon it without removing a cartridge that had been left in it, it was in some way exploded, the ball striking the inside of Fox’s left hand over the bone of the second finger, and following the bone went up the palm of the hand beyond the wrist. Dr. Sanborn probed to the wrist, but could not find the ball. [22 Dec 1877, Minnesotian-Herald]
FRIGHTFULLY INJURED
Eyota Man Run Over and Crushed by a Wood Cart
Rochester, Minn., May 4 – Richard McAdams of Eyota was frightfully inured last night be being thrown from a load of wood. The wagon passed over his face and directly over the length of his body. His forehead was laid open by a big, deep cut and his face badly cut and bruised. His body is severely bruised and injured internally. Thirteen stitches were taken in closing the cuts in his face. He lives, but is in a most critical condition. [Minneapolis Journal, May 4, 1898]
Thomas McCormick was seriously injured Monday while working on the stone pile, by the wedge flying up and striking him in the forehead. His condition is critical. [Duluth News-Tribune, 16 Aug 1901]
A little son of Mr. Miller, of Haverhill, driving some cattle, was attacked by a young steer, who gored the boy with his horns and trampled upon him. There was a rescue before a fatal injury. [21 Oct 1868, St. Paul Daily Pioneer]
