Husbands to be Scarce, Report.
More Men than Women Died Last Month, Health Department Records Show
Women will have a harder time to obtain husbands as the years go by if the present birth and death proportions are continued. The monthly report issued yesterday by M. P. Orchard, secretary of the city health department, shows that a larger number of males died during the month than females. The birth for the period showed the males slightly in the lead, a rather unusual thing.
Or the people who died during June, four were over all years of age and 24 over 60 years. All of these "old-timers" were of foreign birth.
A comparison of the figures for June, 1920, with those of 1913, show an increase of about 11 per cent in the birth rate and a decrease of about 15 per cent in the death rate.
