VARDAMAN - Hazel Brown Logan, 90, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at the Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. She was born March 7, 1917, in Calhoun County. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Vardaman.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman. The Rev. Johnny Cherry and the Rev. Robert Earl Alexander will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Vardaman.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Ann Nabors and Claude of Houston; two sons, Clyde T. Logan and Sara of McCondy, and Charles D. Logan and Marie "Kitty" of Bruce; five grandchildren, David Box, Teresa Taylor, Frances Bridgman, Tammy Kennedy and Karen McCulloch; eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, P.P. Logan; and her parents, Harve Ducan Brown and Mary Elizabeth Spencer Brown.
Pallbearers will be David Wayne Box, Justin Bridgman, Bob Taylor, Tim McCulloch, Jeffrey Kennedy, Charles Taylor, Rodney Bridgman and Allen Tharp.

BRUCE - R.B. Brown, 85, of Bruce, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was a retired businessman and former Weyerhaeuser employee.
Born Oct. 2, 1921 in the Robbs community, he was the son of Louis Leroy Brown and Alma Bailey Brown. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Freddie, Edward, Leo and Theo Brown; a sister, Lottie Brown; and a son, Sammy Gay Brown.
He was married to Saran N. Ivy of Bruce on March 2, 1946. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the funeral home chapel with burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Elton Ray Brown of Vicksburg, Johnny Kay Brown, Horn Lake, Gary Dean Brown, Madison, and Thomas Roy Brown, Vicksburg; three daughters, Scottie Sue Casey, Oxford, Teresa Ann Kingsley, Dallas, Texas, and Sheila Darlene Sanders, Ecru; two sisters, Ruby Green and Lyda Weeks of Bruce; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Sanctuary Hospice House, P.O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.

PLANTERSVILLE -Willie Mae Smith, 67, died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. Born July 3, 1940, in the Big Creek Community in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of the late Crawford and Veta Hale Berryhill. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, spending time outdoors, caring for her dogs, and feeding the squirrils, doves and other wildlife that often frequented her backyard. She was also an avid flower gardener. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Danny Rushing officiating. Burial will be in the Crawford Berryhill Family Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Clint Smith, Jr. of Plantersville; four sons, Marvin C. Smith and his wife, Debra, of Plantersville, Owen Fred Smith of Plantersville, Johnathon Crawford Smith and his wife, Tracy, of Mooreville, and Karl Smith of Plantersville; two sisters, Janie Kelly and her husband, Joe, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Thelma Harris of the Centerville community; nine grandchildren, Darlene Carnathan and her husband, Bernard of Mantachie, Christy Umphress and her husband, Chris, of Amory, Melanie Moore and her husband, Bradley, of Saltillo, Cynthia Huddleston of Plantersville, Owen Fred Smith, Jr. of Plantersville, Johnathon Crawford Smith, Jr. of Mooreville, Joshua Charlie Vaden Smith of Mooreville, Gordon Karl Smith of Pontotoc, and Karla Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina; 9 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren..

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Melvin Smith; and one sister, Clara Hughes.

Pallbearers will be Billy Smith, Richard Smith, Cleveland Smith, Talmadge Smith, Joe Smith, and Robert Smith.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
