The Honorable, the Probate Court of Clarke County met being the 3rd day and first Monday in December A. D. 1838 and regular Term of said Court.
Present the Hon. Henry Haile Judge, Wm. F. Green Clerk, & Thos. F. Hicks Shff.
Ordered by the Court
That the Administration of the Estate of Thomas Waits deceased be required to sell the South West quarter of South East quarter of Section No. 3 of Township No. 1 of Range No. 17 East. Containing thirty seven 46/100 acres on the 1st Monday in February on a credit of Twelve months to take Note with approve Security acording (sic) to Law.
Ordered by the Court that the Court now adjourn until Court in Course.

This is to require you to advertise a special Term of Probate Court to be holden in and for Clark (sic) County at the Court house thereof on the 28th (inst). In order to Grant Letters of Administration on the Estate of Thomas R. Brantley late of Clark (sic) county deceased.

The Hon. The Probate Court met this 26th day of January A. D. 1839. According to law being a special Term of said Court In order to Grant Letters of Administration on the Estate of Thomas R. Brantley late of Clarke county deceased.

Personally appears in open court Nancy J. Brantly (sp.) who after being first sworn in open court saith that she is the Lawful wife of Thomas R. Brantley late of Clark (sic) county deceased and makes application to the court now here for Letters of administration on the Estate of the said deceased.
Wherefore after giving Bond as required by the law of the State it is ordered by the court that Nancy J. Brantley take the oath of Administration on the Estate of the aforesaid Thomas R. Brantley wherefore Nancy J. Brantley takes the oath of Administratrix (sic) in open court in the meaning prescribed by Law.
Whereupon Letters of Administration were granted her by the Court now here on the Estate of aforesaid, Ordered by the Court.
Thos. L. Thompson William E. Williford and I. P. Pool Esqs. Be appointed appraisers of the Estate of Thomas R. Brantley deceased.
The appraisers aforesaid after having been duely qualified as the Law direct. Came into Court with the following Return to wit:

Know all men by these present that we Nancy J. Brantley and Samuel D. Felts of Kemper County & State of Mississippi and Robert Collins of Clark (sic) County and State aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto Henry Hailes Judge of Probate Court for the County of Clark (sic) in the penal (?) sum of Four Thousand Dollars Lawful money of said State for the payment of which will and truly to be made we bind ourselves _?_ and Each of our heirs Executors and Administrators and assign firmly and Severally by these present sealed with our seal and dated This 26th day of January A.D. 1839 (Eighteen hundred and thirty nine).
The condition of this obligation is such that if the said Nancy J. Brantley (Administratrix (sic)) of the goods chattles (sic) and credits of Thomas R. Brantley deceased do make a true and perfect inventory of all and Singular of the goods chattles (sic) and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of the said Administrtatrix (sic) or in the hands or possession of any other person or persons for them and the same so made do Exhibit to the orphans Court of Clark (sic) when She shall thereunto be required by the said court and such goods chattles (sic) and credits do will and truly administer according to law, and do further make a list and true account of her actings and doings therein when thereto required by the said court and all the rest of the said goods chattles (sic) and credits which shall be found remaining upon the account of the said Thomas R. Brantley the same being first examined and allowed by the said court shall deliver and pay unto such persons respectively as are intitled (sic) to the same by law and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testiment (sic) was made by the deceased and the same be prove in court and the said Nancy J. Brantley obtained Letters testimentary (sic) and the said Nancy J. Brantley (Administratrix) do in such case being required deliver up her Letters of Administration to the said Court their obligation to be voice therewise to remain in full force and virtue.

I, William G. Gill Clerk of the Probate Court for he County and State aforesaid do hereby certify that Letters of administration were heretofore To wit at the January Term 1839 of the Probate Court of Said Count Granted to Nancy Brantley on the goods and chattles (sic) rights and credits of Thomas R. Brantley deceased late of Kemper County Mississippi. In writing thereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal of office in Dekalb, Miss.

I, Berey. Coppelt (?) Judge of Probate for the County aforesaid do hereby certify that William G. Gill whose name appears to the foregoing certificate was at the time of his signing the __?__ and Yet is Clerk of the Probate Court for the County aforesaid therefore due faith and credit should be given to all his acts as sich Given under my hand and seal this 23rd day of February A. D. 1839.
