Goodwater Community

Holland, Ivey, Mason, McGowan, Pope, Rowell, and Welch are just a few family names that blessed the populated area of Goodwater in the early 1900's, a community named after a creek running close by in the southwest part of Clarke County.

Owning a country store with a gasoline powered gristmill, a pecan nursery and a cotton farm, Hamilton "Hamp" McGowan was a prominent man of the area.

Driven by Carl Sanders, an odd bus was formed out of a flatbed trailer that transported the local students to school in the nearby community of Nancy.
