Welcome to Clay County, MS Genealogy and History Sick List August 13, 1870 ACCIDENT - On Sunday last our townsman J. G. Baptist, met with an accident that will partially disable him for some time.  Intending to ride a mile or two out of town he borrowed a friends horse, and, in mounting drew the rein which caused the horse to rear up and fall back on him, the horn of the saddle striking him in such a manner as to break his collarbone, and otherwise bruising him, -  We are glad to see that he is able to be out and attend to his official duties.
