WEST POINT - Evelyn Virginia Chandler, 99, died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at Dugan Memorial Home. She was born Oct. 9, 1907, in West Point to the late Thomas Kyle and Evelyn Berryhill Chandler. She was the oldest member of First Christian Church of West Point. She was an avid cyclist and rode her bicycle daily until she was 86 years old.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Gordan officiating. Robinson Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her niece and caregivers, Frances B. Thomas and husband, John Hollie, of West Point; a sister-in-law, Lois Chandler of Tunica; eight great-nieces and nephews; numerous great-great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elizabeth C. Hardy; and one brother, T.K. Chandler Jr.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sarah Argyle Bennett, daughter of Mr and Mrs Joshua Bennett, was born in Clay county, Miss., August 25, 1869. She was married to T. B. Davis November 25, 1885. To this union were born ten children, three sons dying in infancy. Surviving her are four sons, B. O. Davis of Stamford, Texas, T. M. Davis, Joshua Davis and Cleo Davis of Carter, and three daughters, Mrs. Helen Spencer and Mrs. Gladys Foster of Carter and Mrs. Ruby Brownlee of near Sayre. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters. Her death occurred Monday, December 10, and she was buried the following day at Carter.
She professed faith in Christ at the age of 15 and joined the Baptist church, to which she remained a faithful member till her death. Rev. Dewey C. Squyres, her pastor, had charge of the funeral service at the Baptist church. The sermon was preached by Rev. B. A. Etheridge of Erick, a close friend of the family.
Card of Thanks. The family expressed their thanks for the kindness to us in the sickness and death of our wife, mother and grandmother. We also wish to express special thanks for the beautiful flowers given by friends.

William H. Cherry was born Aug. 24, 1871, at Cedarbluff, Miss., was a son of Rev. J. B. Cherry. He professed religion in 1888 and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He moved to Texas in 1894 and married Miss Nora Owens in January 1899. There were five children born to them, two of which are dead. His wife died August 24, 1919. Brother Cherry died Feb. 2, 1925. He leaves two daughters and one son, two brothers and one sister, besides neices (sic) and nephews and a host of friends.

Survivors include his mother, Cherrie Lee Burns Cousins; two brothers, James Ford of St. Louis and Tony Ford of West Point; two sisters, Rena Mae Spraggins of West Point and Alberta Herrod of Bruce.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Ford.
Visitation and the family hour will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John C. Webb; and two sisters, Johnnie Webb and Brenda Webb.
