Hon. Walter Denny
Moss Point, Miss., March 30 - Hon. Walter Denny, president of the firm of W. Denny & co., lumber manufacturers,
died at 11:15 p.m. yesterday, aged 76 years. Mr. Denny was for ten years sheriff of Greene county before the war,
and served Jackson county in the legislature from 1859 to 1862, and he established the lumber business here in
1853, and sicne then has been one of the leaders in the lumber trade of the South. He was buried at 3 p.m. today
by Pascagoula Lodge A.F. and A.M., of which he had been an honored member for years. All business was practically
suspended here today in consequence of the loss of this honored citizen. [Herald
