 MRS SUSAN PUGH READ

       Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Pugh Read,80. who died Sunday in the Jasper General Hospital following a long illness will be held Tuesday, at Read's Chaplel United Church with interment in the church cemetery.
        

    A resident of Route 2 LOUIN,  SHE WAS THE WIDOW OF W. M. Read.  She was a member of Read's Chapel Church.

        Survivors are six sons:  Turner Waldo, Wilbert, Harmon, Michael and Charles Ray;seven daughters--Mrs.  W.W. Doolittle, Mrs. F. W. Windham, Mrs. Homer Lee, Mrs. L. L.. Nester, Mrs. Jesse Hendrix, and Mrs. Edison /Wilson.  Also surviving are 38 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 3 sisters.

W. M. READ DIES, PROMINENT PLANTER, FUNERAL HELD THURSDAY

   Following a long decline of health, Mr. William Marschall Read, 76, of Louin R.F.D. passed away in Bay Springs early Wednesday morning.(08 Apr 1948)  Funeral services were conducted at Read's Chapel United Methodist Church  with interment in the church cemetery,

    Mr. Read was a farmer, holding considerable property in the central part of the county.  Through thrift and labor he became one of the most prominent farmers in Jasper County.  He was one of the most substantial citizens of the county, lending his support and encouragement to those  things that make a better citizenery.  He and his wife  reared a large family of sons and daughters who in turn responded to the love he bestowed on them.

   The departed leaves his wife, Mrs. Susie Pugh Read,; six sons, Turner, Waldo.Wilbert Michael, Harmon, and Charles Ray and seven daughters, Mrs. W. W. Doolittle, Mrs. F. W. Windham, Mrs. Homer Lee, Mrs. L.L. Nester, Mrs. Jesse Hendrix, Mrs. Wesley Lewis, and Mrs. Edison Wilson.    Also surviving are grandchildren, one brother, four half-brothers, and one half-sister.
