Charles Harrison
Charles Harrison, 76, of Laurel, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Friendship Baptist Church, with burial in Nora Davis Cemetery. The Rev. James McLaurin and Rev. D. R. Henry will officiate.
He was retired from Laurel Police Department. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Hattie Harrison; his wife, Mildra Harrison; one sister, Eloise K. Jones; and a brother, George Berry.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Willie Carl and Regina Jones of Laurel, Kenneth M. and Patricia Harrison of Laurel; a brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Johnnie Harrison of Ellisville; a sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Nelson Keys of Laurel; a sister-in-law, Heartha Lee Barry; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. today at Chapel of Angels Funeral Home, which is in change of arrangements.

Grover A. "Slim" Howard

    A retired employee of Crown Zellerbach and resident of Zachary, he died 1:10 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 1996, at Lane memorial Hospital, Zachary.  He was 82 and a native of Laurel, Miss.  He was a U. S. Army Air Corps., Civil Conservation Corps., and veteran of World War II.  Visiting was held at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.  Visiting at the funeral home chapel, 8:30 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Barnes.  Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.  Survived by his wife, Katie Mae Howard, Zachary; stepmother, Verna Howard, Petal, Miss.; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Delaney and Katherline Schilling Howard, Zachary; a sister, Emma Bassett, Laurel, Miss.; three grandchildren, Sheri Howard LeBlanc, Zachary, Michael Howard, Collierville, Tenn., and Gregory Howard, Baton Rouge; two great-grandchildren, Katie Lioret and Jacob Howard, both of Zachary; and numerous nieces and nephews.  he was a member of First Baptist Church, Zachary, and Greater Woody Dumas Sixty-Plus Golf Association.

Verna Howard

    Verna Howard, 96, of Laurel, died Monday, March 17, 1997, at Conva-Rest Nursing Home in Petal.

    Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel.  The Revs. Gerald Buckley and Stan Buckley will officiate.

    She was a member of the Eastern Star and retired House Mother for the Masonic Home for Girls and Boys in Meridian.  She was also a retail sales clerk and a member of Lee's Chapel Baptist Church in Jones County.

    She was preceded in death by five of her children, Pete Howard, Lois Rayner, Lilly Perkins, Grover Howard, Sgt. Maj. Andy Howard; and her husband Rob Howard.

    She is survived by one daughter, Emma Bassett of Laurel; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be Howard Bassett, Todd Bassett, Steve Buckley, William Pearson, Roy Pearson, and Ronny Thomas.

    Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
