Johnnie V. McCormick
Johnnie V. McCormick, 86, of Laurel, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Friendship Baptist Church, with burial in Nora Davis Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Harper will officiate.
She was a retired crossing guard with the Laurel City Schools and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Nettie Bell, and husband, Mose McCormick.
She is survived by two sons, Mose McCormick of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dwight McCormick of Laurel; three daughters, Barbara A . Williams and Demetra McCormick, both of Renton, Wash., and Chinita Whitlock of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Carleen Peguese of Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, at Friendship Baptist Church.
Chapel of Angels Funeral Home in Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Arlean Moffett
Arlean Moffett, 60, of Laurel, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at Metro-Plex Hospital in Killeen, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at For The Love of God Church in Laurel, with burial in Nora Davis Cemetery. The Rev. Bilbo Cooley will officiate.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lee Essie Moffett; grandmother, Henrietta Moffett; grandfather, Onnie Moffett; and five uncles.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Moffett of Laurel; a brother and sister-in-law, Herbert Ray and Nezzie Moffett of Killeen, Texas; two sisters, Mary K. Moffett and Deloris J. Hudgies, both of Laurel; two uncles; six aunts; three granddaughters; three grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, at Brown Mortuary Inc. in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Stanton Malone
Elizabeth Stanton Malone of Laurel died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at United Baptist Church in Laurel, with burial in Nora Davis Memorial Garden. The Rev. Eddie Brown and Arnold Stanton will officiate.
She owned and operated Malone Funeral Home and Florist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel “Coach” Malone, and a daughter, Thelma Malone Amerson.
She is survived by seven daughters and two sons-in-law, Viola Malone, Bettye Miller, Bobby Jean McGee, Mae Helen and Ronnie Pugh, Mary Ann and Walter Martin, Lillie Mae Byrd and Wanda Byrd, all of Laurel; four sons, Edward Holmes Jr., Adrian Malone, Carlos Malone and Corey Malone, all of Laurel; two sisters, Sarah Rhodes of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Leona Spearman of Clarksdale; 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The body will be placed in St. Paul United Methodist Church from 1-6 p.m. Monday.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Brown Mortuary Inc. and Malone Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

Laurel Leader Call, Sept. 2003

Delma Lee Valentine Mullins, 93, of the Myrick Community, died Saturday, Sept 6, 2003 at Whispering Pines Personal Care Home in Wayne County, MS.

Funeral services will be held at 1030 a.m. Monday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Myrick Cemetery.  The Rev. Jimmy Holder will officiate

Mrs. Mullins retired from Sears Catalog Sales and is a member of First Baptist Church of Myrick.  She was a member of Eastern Star-Laurel Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Mullins; a daughter and son-in-law, Iola and Coleman Loper; and her parents, Archie and Arminda Valentine. 

She is survived by two grandsons, Tim Doper of Terry, and David Loper of Myrick Community; two great grandchildren; two nephews, Aldine Valentine of Nashville Tenn, and A.G. Valentine of Houston; a niece, Opie Jean Cusimano of Houston.

 Pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Myrick.  Honorary pallbearers George Lane Blackledge.

Visitation will be help 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
