The Chancery Court of Leflore county rendered judgment, last week, for about $14,000
against the bondsmen of J. L. Sullivan,
the ex-sheriff of that county, to cover a shortage, including interest and damages in his official accounts. It
is stated that the bondsman will proceed to settle the matter at once. the suit was instituted by the State revenue
agent, Mr. Wirt Adams, who is always on
the alert and rarely ever lets a delinquent official escape his responsibility to State or County. [Herald Weekly, Nov. 27, 1897 - Submitted by Candi H.]
