Joe Hickman of Fair River rode into quicksand near the mouth of Big Bahala and was drowned recently.

Mrs. Nellie Sanders of Fair River, formerly of Lawrence County, died on March 8th of heart disease.

April 28, 1881

G. L. Summers of Fair River died on Cooper's Creek on the 19th inst., of affection of the brain.

May 5, 1881

George Van, an employee of Moreton & Helm's Mill, was run over by a passing train near Bogue Chitto on May 1st and was instantly killed.
