About Missouri
In 1812 the Northern part of the Territory of Louisiana was changed and
named the Territory of Missouri and given territorial Rights.
On October 1, 1812, Governor Clark organized the five administrative
districts of the former Louisiana Territory into counties, which later
became the first five counties of the state of Missouri:
Cape Girardeau, New Madrid, Saint Charles, Saint Louis, and Ste. Genevieve
Most of the rest of the counties were organized from those original 5 counties.
St. Louis was the seat of the Territorial Government until 1820
Missouri entered the Union:
August 10, 1821 as the 24th state
It contains 114 Counties
The State Capital is Jefferson
City

State Bird - Eastern Blue Bird
State Motto: Salus populi suprema lex esto: "The welfare of the people shall be the supreme law"

State Lowest Point - St. Francis River at southern Arkansas border
Kansas City
Kansas City was first named West Point.
On Dec. 2, 1897, West Point was annexed by Kansas City, Missouri.
The Kansas City metropolitan area lies in 7 Counties and 2 states,
situated at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers (Kaw
Point), and straddling the state border between Missouri and Kansas.
Old newspapers list it as either Kansas City, Missouri or Kansas City, Kansas.
Kansas City, Missouri includes 4 counties: Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte.
Kansas City, Kansas includes two counties: Johnson and Wyandotte
