Obit: Christopher Lee Bowen, 22, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Sept. 15, 1996, at Doctors Regional Medical Center, from injuries received in an automobile accident.  Mr. Bowen was born April 21, 1974, in Poplar Bluff.  He attended the Church of God.  In July 1991, he was married to Angel Marie Blaylock.  She survives.  Survivors also include two children, Johnithan Bowen and Joshua Bowen, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bowen of Poplar Bluff; and two brothers, Clifford Allen Bowen of San Diego, Calif., and Michael Wayne Bowen of Poplar Bluff.  Visitation will be at 7 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel.  A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with the Rev. Kent Miller officiating.

Dr Joseph M Brandon died at age of 91 years. Resided at Essex since 1910.

Dr J (ospeh) M Brandon, 91 of Dexter, veterinarian of SI and SEMO, died at the Brandon Hospital her at3:50am today after an illness of about 4 weeks. Dr Brandon was born in Jackson Co, IL in Aug 1865 to Martha Belle Allmon. (d/o John and Angeline).
They were the parents of five children: Dr J P Brandon of Essex, Dr  W L Brandon of Poplar Bluff, WA Brandon of Carbondale, IL, Mrs. Mary Reynolds of Jonesboro, Il and Mrs. Ida Qualls of Poplar Bluff. Several years after the death of his first wife, Dr Brandon was married the second time to Mrs. Juanita F McFarlen after moving to MO in 1910. She also survives. Dr Brandon was a member of a family of four. His father died when he was four years old and his mother raised the family. (parents were Thomas S and Jane (Tygett) Brandon). A few days before his death he was visited by some of the doctors in the family, his sons: Doctors W L and JP, two nephews Dr J P Hiller of Pollard (Clay Co), AR and Dr F M Hiller of Centerville (St Clair Co), IL, and a grandson Dr C L Qualls of Poplar Bluff, MO. Among his relatives, Dr Brandon numbers 16 doctors. Nine Grandchildren, quite a large number of great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 am at the Baptist church in Dexter with the Rev Phillips in charge.
The body will then be taken to Carbondale, IL, immediately afterward for the final rites to be held at the old family cemetery (South County Line in Jackson Co, IL)  at 2:30pm.
In the meantime the body will lie in state at the apartments of Dr W l Brandon in the hospital here.
