James Thomas Allen was born in Independence.
Jackson County, Missouri, January 19. 1840 and passed away at his home
four miles west of Eagleville, Mo., on July 4. 1911. Aged 71 years, 5
months and 15 days. He was in poor health for some time but bore his
suffering with fortitude and patience. He was married to
Elzira Hubbard, February 1, 1862 and to this union was born eleven
children; eight sons and three daughters. One son and one daughter passed
away in infancy. The rest are
living.
He was a man of fine character, never
speaking ill of anyone, always seeing the good qualities in his friends
rather than the faults and of whom the friends and neighbors could always
say. "Blessed is the peacemaker." This wife has lost a good true
companion and his children a kind loving father and his neighbors one
whose memory will ever be remembered for his kind words and deeds amongst
them. [source: Harrison County Bicentennial
