RUSHVILLE - E. Marie Lawler, 92, of 368 S. Liberty died at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 1995, at the home of her daughter in Oregon, Ill. Born Sept. 9, 1903, in Kansas City, Mo., to John L. and Nellie Lawler Barton, she married F. Eugene Lawler in 1934 in Rushville. He died in 1950.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Betty) Pazera of Oregon; and one grandson, Ronald. She was a retired Rushville High School teacher. She was a member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter AL. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rushville City Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Volkers will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials may be given to the Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center or to the First Presbyterian Church of Rushville.

Mrs. Laura Lawson
The body of Mrs. Laura Elizabeth Lawson, 24 years of age, a healthseeker from Kansas City, Mo., who died in a local hospital Friday night, was sent to Kansas City this afternoon by McBean, Simmons & Hartford. Mrs. Emma S. Johnson, mother, and the husband of the deceased, accompanied the body. Mrs. Lawson had been here seven months, residing at 500 East Rio Grande street.

Wm. S. Leeper, a prominent lawyer and Republican politician of Kingston, Caldwell county, died in Kansas City last night. Mr. Leeper was a business visitor to Kansas City a week before his death and slipped and fell on the icy pavement, striking his head and fracturing his skull. His condition gradually grew worse and he passed away Sunday.
“Billy” Leeper was well known in Ray county, where he had many friends among both Republicans and Democrats, who will regret to hear of his death.

Dies of Heart Disease Kansas City, Mo., Jan. 25.
J. A. Lenertz, 47, Bartlesville, Okla., attorney, died at Research hospital here today. Lenertz was admitted to the hospital December 29, suffering from heart disease.

Mrs. Sophia Teresa Linn, 86, of 3936 Clark, died yesterday at St. Luke's hospital. She was born in Lenexa and had lived in the Kansas City area all her life. Mrs. Linn was a member of Our Lade of Good Counsel Catholic Church and its altar and rosary societies. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Klingler, 6200 Manning, Raytown, and Mrs. Marjorie Johnson of the home, and two brothers, Frank J. Scherman, Topeka, and George R. Scherman, Lenexa.

"LINN - William Thomas Linn, 76, of 3936 Clark, died yesterday at the home after an illness of a year. He had been a pump operator for the city water department before his retirement. He was born in Lenexa and before moving to Kansas City in 1920 he had been one of the first conductors on the Strang interurban line. Mr. Linn was a member of the Westport Presbyterian Church and the Sicilian lodge of the Knights of Pythias. He was active in the Off Fellows lodge for 50 years and was a member of all branches of the order. He was past departmental commander of the Missouri Patriarchs Militant, and a member of the Kansas City Canton, Mecca Encampment, and Wesport Subordinate. He was captain of the Westport mixed drill team. All are Odd Fellow organizations. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sophia Linn, and a daughter, Miss Mildred Linn, both of the home; and another daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Johnson, 4536 Jefferson."
H. C. Litchfield, superintendent of the Railroad Transfer company, committed suicide shortly before 2 o’clock this afternoon, by shooting himself through the head. He was implicated by Thomas Nolan, who confessed to a long continued series of thefts from railways.

Anna Long
BEARDSTOWN - Anna M. Long, 57, of Beardstown died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Born Feb. 18, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., to Jessie H. and Armissie Virgie Mae Huffman Piper, she married Willard Dyer in 1964. She then married Gary Wilson on March 25, 1970. She later married Sanford Long in 1983. All three husbands preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her father.
Surviving are her mother, Virgie Braind of Bedford, N.H.; one son, David (and Peggy) Dyer of Beardstown; one daughter, Serena Wilson of Beardstown; one brother, Gale Piper of Missouri; two sisters, Dollie Schackleford of Monument, Kan., and June Cressey of Plymouth, Ind.; several half brothers and half sisters; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery.
