Name of Deceased: Carrie Ella Little Songer

Obit: Mrs. Dave Songer of Edina died at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, June 30, 1958, at Gibson Hospital here at the age of 74 years. She was paralyzed and had been a patient at the hospital three months. The body was taken to the Hudson Funeral Home here, where services were conducted at 10:30 o'clock yesterday morning by the Rev. T. W. Stark, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Edina. Burial was in the cemetery at Knox City. Mr. Songer survives togather with a son, Dallas O. Songer, of Edina and a daughter, Grace, Mrs. H. F. McCarry, of Salisbury, Mo. There survives also four grandchildren and to great-grandchildren, likewise two sisters, Mrs. Frank Hamlin and Mrs. Roy Arment of Edina. Mrs. Songer was born June 6, 1884, one of the seven children of Oliver James Little and Mary Little, his wife, who was a daughter of Calvin and Peggy Little, who was thus before marriage to Oliver James Little Miss Mary Little. Mrs. Songer, as Miss Carrie Ella Little, was married to David A. Songer Nov. 29, 1905, in Edina. They were the parents of seven children, 3 sons and 2 daughters being dead. Mrs. Mary Little, 85 years old, Mrs. Songers mother, died at the Songer home Nov. 28, 1927, and her husband, Oliver James Little, preceded his wife forty-two years in death. There are dead also three brothers and a sister.

Obit: Dallas O. Songer, Edina, 86, died Friday, May 5, 1995, in Kirksville Manor Care Center. Mr. Songer, was born May 3, 1909, in Knox County, the son of David Alfred and Carrie Ella Little Songer. He married Gertrude Lewis on September 3, 1933, in Edina. She survives. Mr. Songer lived most of his life in Knox County except for a short time in Quincy, Illinois. He and his wife lived in Edina all their married life. He had been employed by the Missouri State Highway Department in Edina for nearly 40 years before retiring in the 1970's. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Edina. Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Cleo (Barbara) Ratliff of Edina; two sons, Davie L. Songer of Edina and Neal L. Songer of Sidney, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Songer, Robert Songer and Delbert P. Songer; and three sisters, Hazel Songer, Mary Yeater and Grace F. McCurry. Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, 1995, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina by Rev. Ron Tate and Rev. Mike Rash. Burial was in the Linville Cemetery in Edina.

Obit: David A. Songer, 92, of Edina, a lifelong residend of this community, died at 8:41 o'clock Monday morning, April 12, 1971, at the Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital where he had been a patient since March 22.  He had lived in Edina more than 55 years.  Funeral services were at 2 o'clock yesterday at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel here with the Rev. Ray Peters of Camp Point, Ill., officiating.  Burial was in the Knox City Cemetery.  Mr. Songer is survived by a son, Dallas O. Songer, and a daughter, Mrs. Grace Frances McCurry, of Edina, three grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Songer was born April 6, 1879, at Greensburg, Ind., a son of William and Sarah Green Songer, and came to Missouri when he was 2 years of age.  He was married Nov. 29, 1905, at Edina to Carrie Ella Little and they were the parents of seven children.  She preceded him in death June 30, 1958.  Mr. Songer was employed a number of years at the old Edina Power Plant and had also worked at the school and courthouse as a custodian.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, three sons, William, Robert, and Delbert Paul Songer, and two daughters, Hazel Songer and Mrs. Mary Yeater, and a grandson, Robert L. Yeater.

Obit: Delbert Paul Songer, 25 years old, who has been in poor health for some time, died at his home here at 3:40 o'clock Monday afternoon.  He had been suffering of anemia for two months.  He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Songer, and was born on a farm west of Edina, having spent his entire life here.  His last employment was with the State Highway Department.  He is survived by the parents; a brother, Dallas Songer; and two sisters, Mary, Mrs. Tom Yeater, of Milan, Tenn., and Grace Songer, at home.  Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Assembly of God Church, with services by the Rev. Daisy Renick Bevill.  Interment was at Knox City.

Obit: Gertrude Marie Songer, age 90, of Edina, Missouri died Sunday, October 21, 2001 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.  The daughter of Clifford and Mary Jane (Tully) Lewis, she was born September 28, 1911 at Hedge City, Missouri.  Gertrude Marie Lewis was united in marriage to Dallas Oliver Songer  on September 3, 1933 at Edina, Missouri and he preceded he in death on May 5, 1995.  Mrs. Songer is survived by three children:  Barbara Lou Ratliff and husband, Cleo; Davie Lee Songer and wife, Betty both of Edina; and Neal Songer and wife Doris of Sidney, Iowa.  Others surviving: twelve grandchildren, Brenda Williams of Ft. Worth, Texas; Mike Ratliff of Newark, Texas; Angie Robinson Pace of Ft. Worth, Texas; Joey Ratliff of Troy; Darrell Songer of St. Charles; David Songer of Kirksville; Deborah Reeves of Edina; Diane Morrow of Edina; Tony Songer of Fall Brook, California; Rick Songer of Columbus, Mississippi; Carrie Broniec of Fulton and Tammy Isenhart of Polk City, Iowa.  Also there are 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers; William Lewis of Kirksville and Robert Lewis of Gibbs; one sister, Catherine Lewis Potter and several nieces and nephews.  Those preceding her in death were: her parents, seven brothers: Elbert, Elmo, Donald, Ray, Glennon, George and Kenneth Lewis and one sister, Mary Ruth Pikert.  Mrs. Songer was reared in Knox County where she attended rural schools and graduated from the Edina High School in 1929.  Mr. and Mrs. Songer lived in Edina all their married life and was one of the founding families of the Edina Assembly of God Church.  She was active in the church as a Sunday School teacher, Women's Missionary leader and special music.  Gertrude Songer was later a member of the Knox City Assembly of God Church and was a Sunday School teacher there for several years also.  She was an avid gardner and loved her many flowers.  She loved the times spent with her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, Missouri, with Bro. Paul Burton officiating.  Music will be provided by Paul and Marsha Burton.  Burial will be in Linville Cemetery at Edina.  Casket bearers will be grandsons:  Mike Ratliff, Joey Ratliff, Darrell Songer, David Songer, Tony Songer and Rick Songer.  Honorary bearers will be granddaughters: Brenda Williams, Angie Pace, Deborah Reeves, Diane Marrow, Carrie Broniec and Tammy Isenhart.  Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2001 with family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel at Edina, Missouri.  An expression of sympathy may be made to Knox City Assembly of God Church in memory of Gertrude M.
