ARTHUR GAGE

Funeral services for Arthur gage were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 10, 1971 from palmer-Pickering Chapel with the Rev. C.R. Hampton officiating. Burial was in the Washington Cemetery.

ELLEN FLORENE (CAPPS) GAGE
Ellen Florene Gage, daughter of James Proctor and Susan Garrison Capps, was born February 12, 1932, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, April 1, 2004, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, one month, and nineteen days.

On July 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to James "Jimmy" Woodrow Gage, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Jimmy, on July 1, 1990; an infant daughter, Brenda Sue; a brother, James Kenneth "Bud" Capps; and a sister, Wilma Lee.

Florene is survived by a daughter, Linda Morrow, and her husband, Dean, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Allen Gage, and his wife, Nora, of Rolla, Missouri; two grandchildren, Bethany Shell, and her husband, Shane, and Erin Morrow, and her fiance, Justin Slye; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Mariah Shell; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer, John, and James Burke; four step-great-grandchildren, Dylan, Antonio, Dayton, and Destiny Burke; her mother, Susan Capps, of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Capps, and his wife, Jimmie Dean, of Strafford, Missouri, and Jack Capps, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a sister, Geneva Stowe, and her husband, Lloyd, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri, and graduated from Windyville High School. After she and Jimmy were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and lovingly raised their family. Besides being a devoted homemaker, Florene was employed by the Rice Stix Factory for several years and then worked at Appleby Boats. She returned to seamstress work at the H. D. Lee Company, and continued to work there until retiring. For the last couple of years, she had been employed by the Lebanon R-III Schools in Esther Elementary School.

Florene made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a member of the Women's I Sunday School Class, the Hilltoppers, and the Kitchen Committee. She remained active in her church and was a vital part of its fellowship throughout the years.

She enjoyed bluegrass music and liked going to bluegrass festivals. She was an excellent cook and delighted in preparing special recipes for her family and friends. She possessed a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed life. Her family was very important to her and she especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Florene was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for us.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.

Besides leaving his wife to mourn his passing, he leaves two sons and two daughters, John Boykin of Graff, Donald Boykin of Graff, Helen Hutsell of Graff and Louise Corder of Kansas City, also one brother Roy Boykin of Graff, four sisters, Clara Hamrick of Tulsa, Dove Lawson of Graff, Flossie Gaddis of Graff and Margaret Hutsell of Graff and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Barber Chapel with Rev. Guy Hutsell, officiating. Concluding services were in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Barber Funeral Home. pallbearers were Roy Hutsell, Hobert Crewse, Howard Maxville, Howard Greenlee, Chester Crewse and [last pallbearer is missing from the copy I am typing from].

JAMES WILLIAM GAGE

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Assembly of God Church for James William gage, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gage, who died Saturday at the home of his parents after an illness of two weeks. The child was 2 years and 10 months old. The Rev. E.E. Hembree officiated at the services. Burial was in Lebanon cemetery. Jimmie Bill was born 14 Feb 1933. Survivors are his parents, three brothers Robert, Wallace and Loren Lee, one sister Juanita, all of the home and three grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gage and Mrs. Nina Leak.

LETA ETHELYN (BENNETT) GAGE
Leta Ethelyn Gage, daughter of John C. and Flora Pelham Bennett, was born February 18, 1922, in Arkansas City, Kansas. She departed this life Sunday, November 2, 2003, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, eight months, and fourteen days.
On March 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Robert Melvin Gage, and to together they shared fifty-five years before his passing on April 13, 2003.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Steven Gage, Sr., and Dean Ford; a great-grandson, Anthony Robert Gage; two brothers; and four sisters.

Leta is survived by a grandson, Steven Gage, Jr., and his wife, Carrie, of Sedalia, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.

She was born and raised in Kansas and then lived in Lebanon for a short while before moving to California. While living in California she met and married Robert and they continued to make their home in California for the next twenty years, and Leta was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. The family later moved to Kentucky where they made their home for several years until moving back to Lebanon in 1996.

Leta made her profession of faith in Christ in 1996 and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. She enjoyed the fellowship and activities that her church offered.

In her spare time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and watching sports on television, especially basketball and baseball games. She also liked being outdoors and enjoyed traveling.

Leta will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2003 in the Mount Rose Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.

ROBERT MELVIN GAGE
Robert Melvin Gage, son of Arthur and Anne West Gage, was born February 14, 1922, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, April 13, 2003, in St. John’s Regional Health Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, one month, and twenty-nine days.

On March 28, 1948, he was united in marriage to Leta E. Bennett, and together they shared the last fifty-five years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven Gage, Sr. and Dean Ford; a great-grandson, Anthony Robert Gage; and a brother, Wallace Gage.

Robert is survived by his wife, Leta, of the home; a special grandson, Steven K. Gage, Jr., and his wife, Carrie, of Sedalia, Missouri; a son, Robert A. Gage, and his wife, Joy, and their four children, of Louisville, Kentucky; a brother, Lorren Gage, of Sacramento, California; a sister, Juanita West, of Moore, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born and raised in Lebanon and Laclede County, Missouri. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II, and took part in the Pacific Theater and the battle of Guadalcanal. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he moved to California, where he and Leta were married. They then made their home in the San Francisco Bay area and lovingly raised their family. Robert was employed as a master electrician by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation and retired after several years of service. In 1974, the family moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where Robert worked in the security control center at Churchill Downs. He and Leta eventually retired, and with their grandson moved back to Lebanon, Missouri in 1996.

Robert had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. While he was able to be an active member, he served as a Bible study leader and enjoyed going out on visitations with other members from the church.

In his spare time his favorite pastimes included painting, drawing, working with video equipment, and fishing. He and Leta also enjoyed traveling and had created many wonderful memories from the places and people that they were able to visit.

Robert will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.

Services will be held April 19, 2003 at 10:00a.m.in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Rose Memorial Park, with Full Military Rites. Visitation will be held Friday Evening from 7-8:30p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon, Missouri.

WILLIAM GAGE

William Gage, 82, died Monday at the home of a son near Phillipsburg.  Rev W.F. Millard conducted the funeral services at the Washington Christian Church with burial in the church cemetery under the direction of Holman’s Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Mr. Gage leaves six sons and three daughters. His wife died 6 years ago. The sons are Arthur, Oakland, CA; Charles, Virgil and Roman all of Phillipsburg; William of Conway and W. H. of Muskogee, ok. His daughters Mrs. Della Conrad, Wenatchee, OK; Mrs. Ethel Pappos, Corpus Christi, TX; Mrs. Dorothy Gilliam, Ft. Gibson, OK., twenty five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  He also leaves two brothers, John Gage, Morgan; Oliver gage, Brush Creek and a sister, Mrs. Rosa Worley of Lebanon

ETTA LOUISE (WEST) GERARD

Etta Louise Gerard, daughter of Jesse James and Carrie L. Hamilton West, was born in Lebanon, MO on July 9, 1929, and departed this life January 23, 2006, in Lebanon, MO.

On January 14, 1950, she was united in marriage with George Arthur Gerard, and to this union was born two sons, both surviving. George preceded her in death on January 15, 1993.

For many years, Louise has been a very active and faithful member of the Lebanon first Assembly of God Church, where she enjoyed participating in various ladies groups. She also enjoyed the time spent with her family, taking car rides, and at Christmas time traveling around town to look at decorated homes.  She loved visiting with her friends at Harwood Manor. Louise sponsored many children through St. Judes for many years.

Louise is survived by two sons, Justin and his wife Mickey and Mark and his wife Carla, both of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Scott Gerard, Lisa Sheerer, William and Jesse Hebler; two great=grandsons, Anthony Sheerer and Andrew Gerard; five brothers, Roy West and his wife Norma and Charles West and his wife Bonnie, both of Lebanon, Jess West and his wife Martha of Sherman, Texas, Jerry West and his wife Jan of Plano, Texas, Jim west and his wife Mary of Batesville, Arkansas; three sisters, Violet Maynard of Lebanon, Bonnie Bohannon of Lynchburg, and Helen Gray and her husband Miles of Odessa, Texas; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, including a special great-great-niece, Savannah Payne of Harlem, Georgia; other relatives and many friends.

Louise is also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Cecil and Everett “Buck” West and by two sisters, Bertha Mae Roberts and Terry Anny West.

A wonderful Christian mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Louise will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

GEORGE ARTHUR GERARD

Services for George Arthur Gerard were held Tuesday, January 19, 1993 at Colonial Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Kelly Pryor and Rev. J.R. DeGraffenreid officiating. Music was by Bob and Betty Stephens and Joyce Johnson, organist. Selections were “When I’ve Gone The last Mile of the Way” and “Where the Roses Never Fade.” Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Escorts were Roger Wassem, Roy West, Cecil West, Charlie West, James Tait and Dean Mills. Honorary escorts were John Pendergraft, Dale Beal, Dean Anderson, Greg Drinkall and Laurence Pannebaker.

George Arthur Gerard, son of Nathaniel Gerard and Edith Gerard, was born in South bend, Indiana, on July 13, 1922, and departed this life January 15, 1993 in Lebanon, Missouri.

On November 24, 1942, George was inducted into the United States Army and served his country during World War II, until he was honorably discharged on July 7, 1945.

He was united in marriage with Louise west on January 14, 1950, and this past Thursday; they celebrated their forty-third wedding anniversary. To this union were born two sons, both surviving.

George was employed with Lowe Industries and retired in 1984.

Those surviving include his wife, Louise, of the home; two sons, Mark Gerard and Justin Gerard, and his wife Mickey, all of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Scott and Lisa Gerard, both of Lebanon; other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

CHARLINE (BURNS) GOODWIN

Charline Goodwin, daughter of Charles William and Katherine “Kit” Miller Burns, was born November 7, 1931, in Lebanon, Missouri, and departed this life December 14, 2008, at her residence also in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age seventy-seven years.

At a young age, Charline made a profession of faith in Christ and became a member at Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church, in Montreal, where she remained an active and faithful member until her passing. She enjoyed the moments spent with her church family and treasured each of them dearly.

On March 10, 1949, Charline was united in marriage with Durrell Goodwin. To this union was born six children, all surviving. Durrell preceded her in death on August 5, 2008.

Charline graduated from Stoutland High School. She made friends easily and stayed in contact with many of them.

In her free time, she enjoyed quilt making and reading. However, nothing compared to the times spent and memories made with her precious family. She was often described as “the best grandmother ever” by her grandchildren.

Charline is survived by five sons, Gary Goodwin and his wife Mary of Sequin, TX, Gene Goodwin and his wife Sheila of Amarillo, TX, Greg Goodwin and his wife Carolyn, Jim Goodwin and his wife Bonnie, and Bruce Goodwin, all of Lebanon; one daughter, Brenda Goodwin, also of Lebanon; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Roy, Ted, and Homer Burns.

Charline was a loving mother, fun-loving grandmother, and loyal friend. Her ability to love was that of a saint. Her gentle heart and kind spirit will be treasured. She will be greatly missed.

GEORGE T. GREGORY

George Gregory Dies After Brief Illness; Funeral Rites Friday 
Lebanon R. R.
July 1958

George T. Gregory, 78, of 574 Brice street, died at Wallace hospital at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, following a brief illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Laclede County.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Jasper Lewis officiating.  Interment will be in the Hufft cemetery at Eldridge.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie of the home; four sons, Curtis and Lloyd Gregory of Eldridge, Leonard of Muskegon, Mich., and Ewin Gregory of Decaturville; five daughters, Mrs. Gurtie Waterman, Lebanon, Mrs. Cleo Bishop, Eldridge, Mrs. Gladys Clelland and Mrs. Georgia Mathena, both of Sleeper, Mrs. Joyce Perkins, of Plad; 32 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Laura Waterman and Mrs. W. L. Knight, both of Lebanon; and three brothers, Ernest and Charlie Gregory both of Yakima, Wash., and Walter of Tacoma, Wash.

NELLIE (RIGGINS) GREGORY

Funeral services for Nellie Gregory, 89, of Lebanon, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 1972 at the Palmer Pickering Chapel with the Revs. Bob Humphreys and Jim Sponseller officiating.  Burial was in the Hufft Cemetery.

The Second Baptist Church choir sang Farther Along, Precious Memories, and I Won’t Have To Cross Jordan Alone.  Escorts were Murl Waterman, Roscoe Bishop, Eugene Pulley, Charles Perkins, Kenneth, Milan, and Larry Gregory, and Steve Mathena.

Nellie Gregory, daughter of James and Susan Stockton Riggins, was born April 6, 1883 Unionville, Missouri and dies July 28, 1972 in Wallace Hospital.

On September 5, 1900 she was married to George Gregory, who preceded her in death in 1958. A son, Leonard, died in 1963.

She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Lebanon, Missouri.

Survivors include three sons, Curtis, Eldridge, Lloyd, Lebanon; and Eula of Decaturville, five daughters, Mrs. Gurtie Waterman and Mrs. Glayds Clelland of Lebanon, Mrs. Cleo Bishop and Mrs. Georgie Mathena, both of Eldridge, Mrs. Joyce Perkins, Tunas; 36 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren and 34 great great grandchildren.
