Obit: Mary Myrtle Evans Smith, of Lilbourn, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Aug, 23, 2010, in Sikeston.
Myrtle was born Dec. 3, 1910 in Micola. She was the daughter of the late Fredrick Fillmore Evans and Larcenia Williams Evans.
In Dec 1928, she and Loy "Tass" Smith were married . To this union were born three children, Syble Maxine Smith Byerly, who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2006;James Lynual Smith of New Palestine, Ind.; and one infant son, Charles Frederick, who died at birth,
Tass preceded Myrtle in death on Sept.6, 1975, as well as two brothers and five sisters.
Myrtle is survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Myrtle and Tass lived and farmed in the Lilboun Community for many years before retiring and moving"in to town." However, Myrtle didn"t retire-she worked many years as a teacher's aide in Lilbourn schools and worked for 21 years as Librarian for the City of Lilbourn.
Myrtle and Tass were active members of the First Baptist Church of lilbourn, where Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010. The Rev. Bob Medlock officiated with assistance by the Rev. Paul Hicks.
Burail followed at the mounds Park Cemetery in Lilbourn. Ponder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
