Vol. 1, 1887 - 1889

In 1883 An Act Of The Legislature Required The Recording Of Births And Deaths In All Missouri Counties.   As There Were No Provisions Made For Enforcement, Many Counties Had Already Ceased Keeping These Records When The Law Was Repealed In 1893 Only Six Deaths Are Recorded In The Ozark County Death Register, Which Has Been Microfilmed By The Missouri State Archives, Jefferson City, Missouri.

1. Chas. E. Bunell, White/Male, Single Farmer, Died Dec. 21, 1885. Ozark County, Of Pneumonia Fever, After A Duration Of Ten Days. He Lived In Missouri Fourteen Years And Was Buried At Barren Fork, Dec. 22, 1885.   Asa Elliott, M.D. Reported October 9. 1888. Date Of Birth And Place Given As "Unknown".

2. Margret Greggs, White/Female, 74 Years, (Marital Status & Date Of Death Not Given) Reported Jan. 28, 1887, With Notation She Died In Douglas County Of Old Age, Duration Of Disease Given As Seven Days, With No Complications. She Lived In Missouri Fifteen Years. Drs. Orender & Vess, Harwood, Missouri.

3. William Johnson, White/Male, Married Farmer, 70 Years, 15 Days, Died Jan 7, 1887, Bayou Township, Of Pneumonia, Complicated By Typhoid Fever. Duration Of Disease Was Nine Days. Born In Tennessee, He Lived In Missouri Thirteen Years, And Was Buried At Walter Beans, Jan. 9. 1867. H. N. Thomas, Undertaker, Baxter County, Arkansas. Physician; W. T. Alexander, Bayou Township, Reported Jan. 14, 188?.

4. Sintha Mcky, White/Female, 50 Years Old, Married, Born Green County, Illinois, Died 5 A.M. Jan 12, I889 In Ozark County, Missouri Of Malarial Fever, Of Seven Day Duration. She Lived In Missouri Eight Years, And Was Buried Sanders Graveyard Jan. 13, 1889. Undertaker; J. W. Garner, Rockbridge. Physician; Dr. Jas. J. Welch. Reported Jan. 16, I889.

5. Z. O. Pernell, White/Male, 67 Years, 4 Months, 7 Days. (Marital Status Blank) He Was Born In Indiana, And Died 7 P.M. Jan. 1, 1887, Of Typhoid. Duration Of Illness Was 32 Days. Buried Ozark County, Orender & Wilson, Physicians.

6. Edna Ann Ward, White/Female, 27 Years, 4 Days, Married Farm Lady, Died 10 P.M. Oct. 30, 1888 In Marlon Town, Ozark County, Mo., Of Tyfhoid (Sic) Fever, Duration Of 24 Days. She Was Born Wood County, Ohio And Lived Missouri One Year, And Eight Months. Buried Meaker Graveyard, Nov. 1, 1888, By Wm. Walls, Undertaker Of Douglas County, Mo., Physician; James J. Welch, Douglas County, Mo.
