County Court house fall 2008

City of Gainesville is the County Seat for Ozark County Missouri. Population runs about 640 more or less. The county Population runs close to 10,000.

The county is in the middle of the Ozarks with gentle rolling hills and valleys. Mostly forest. Some of it cleared off for farms and ranches. In the fall the hills are spectacular with the fall colors.

The city sets between two man made lakes. Norfork Lake and Bull Shoals Lake. Both offering great sports fishing year around. It is a great place to vacation.

The weather is mild in the summer and the winters are mild offering some snow.

The highlight of the year is the Hooten and Hollering fair that is the third weekend in September. Showing off some of the Missouri Mountain Heritage of the early settlers of the mountains.

The towns in the area are small and everyone knows everyone and most people are descendants of the first settlers here. The towns still have the sprit of the rural area. Life centers around Church and Sunday Buffett at the local restaurants where Church and family members gather for after Church lunch.
