Bowton Weds - Miss Irvine

EOLIA, Mo., Oct. 2—A wedding of unusual interest took place in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Irvine, when on Saturday evening,
their daughter Peachie, was married to Ernest Bowton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowton of Elsberry. About 50 invited guests were
present at the marriage service which was solemnized at 7:30 o'clock by the Rev. Gordon Whiteside of Bowling Green, a cousin of the bridegroom, using the ring
ceremony.
Mrs. R. L. Howell, sister of the bride, was at the piano, and before the ceremony Miss Eleanor Cockrell of Troy, sang "O Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly" after which, as Mrs. Howell played Lohengrin's wedding march, the bridal party entered and stood before an altar of ferns and potted plants while the young people
spoke their marital vows.
Mrs. John M. Wilson of Louisville, attended her sister as maid, and Roy Burchett of Elsberry, was best man.
The bride wore pink lace over ivory satin and carried pink rosebuds and baby breath. Mrs. Wil-son wore blue crepe with a shoulder bouquet of rosebuds and baby
breath. The couple was married on the thirty-seventh wedding anniversary of the bride's parents.
After the ceremony a reception was held and the table was laid with a lace cloth, while a large wedding cake adorned the center, with pink tapers at each side.
Members of the Aurora club assisted in serving. After the reception Mr. and Mrs. Bowton left on a short trip and returning will be at home at Elsberry. The bride
traveled in a rust crepe frock with brown accessories.
Mrs. Bowton was graduated from Eolia High school with the class of 1931. She is a member of the Bridge Club and is secretary of the Aurora Club. Mr. Bowton
was graduated from Elsberry High school and later attended Hannibal-La Grange College, at Hannibal. He is employed by the Wolls-Lamont-Smith Corporation at
Elsberry.
Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowton and daughter, Marjorie of Elsberry, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cockrell and daughters, Eleanor and Harriet
Louise, Dr. and Mrs. R. L. Howell and son, all of Troy, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hawkins of East St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Means of St.
Louis, Lloyd Damron of Hannibal, Miss Bessie Legg of Montgomery City, Rev. Gordon Whiteside and family of Bowling Green, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Wilson and son of
Louisville.
