She was born in Nodaway Co, Va, 26 June 1817; was married to her now bereaved husband, 15 Aug 1838, and joined the Methodist Church in Monroe co, Mo, in the year 1840...May God bless the husband, sons and daus who weep over this sad loss. - Henry Kay

WINANS, MARIE SHONHART
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Winans, 97, of Louisiana , Mo. , were held
at 11 am Tuesday, October 21 at the First Christian Church in Louisiana .
The Rev. Jimmy Spear officiated. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 pm Monday,
Oct. 23 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana . Burial was in the West
Cemetery in Pittsfield . Mrs. Winans died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at the
Maple Grove Nursing Home, Louisiana , Mo. She was born Jan. 14, 1909 in
Boynton , Oklahoma to Charles and May Waggoner Shonhart. Her mother died at
childbirth. When she was three days old she was brought to Pittsfield by an
Indian lady named, Nellie Robnett. She was raised by her maternal
grandparents, the Thomas Waggoners of Martinsburg. She married Claude Winans
Dec. 3, 1927 at Quincy , and he preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1988. They
had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December of 1977. She had
lived on their farm at Summer Hill, for 70 years moving to Louisiana in 1975
to make their home. Marie is survived by a cousin, Robert Donald Waggoner of
Jacksonville , Fla and many friends. She had been employed as a Nurses Aid
for Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana until her retirement. She was
a member of the Congregational Church in Summer Hill. Pallbearers were Glen
Cottrell, Bob Lee, Jim Willsey, Bobby Lee, Carroll Schnitzer and Sony
Stephens.
