Obit: Doniphan - Charlotte J. Schumm, 75, of Doniphan died Saturday, Sept. 14, 1996, at Doctors Regional Medical Center.  She had been in failing health five years.  Mrs. Schumm was born April 25, 1921, in Jersey City, NJ.  A Ripley County resident 15 years, she was a member of Trinity Reform Church.  On June 10, 1944, she married August Schumm in West New York, NJ.  He died Aug 13, 1966.  Survivors include three daughters, Laurie Fleming, Randi Schumm and Nancy Mohrmann, all of Doniphan; one son, David Schumm of Southriver, NJ.; two sisters, Loretta Preston and Edna Gomez, both of North Bergon, NJ.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be in Doniphan Cemetery.

 

At Dowiphan, Mo., Oct. 15, of typhoid fever, Philip McGuier. Mr. McGuier came to Marshall county at an early day, and lived here many years before removing to Missouri.

Obit: Shauna Christina Faye Baucom, 17, of Doniphan died at 5:04 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at the Lucy Lee Healthcare System.  Miss Baucom was born Jan. 8, 1982, in Ripley County.  She was a senior at Doniphan High School where she was a member of FHA, FFA and Speech Club.  She also was a member of Church of Christ.  Survivors include her parents, Wilburn and Linda Baucom of Doniphan; paternal grandparents, Russell and Eva Mae LaRoe of Sturgeon; one sister, Lisa Hughes of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Wilburn Lee Baucom Jr. of Doniphan and Daniel Baucom of Doniphan.  Her funeral was 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at the Doniphan Church of Christ with Steve Hale officiating.  Burial was at Ingram Cemetery.  Edwards Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. 


 

WASHINGTON, IL -- Carl T. Holt, 81, of 200 Carlson, Apt. 17-H died at 7:59 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 1995, in the Saint Francis Medical Center emergency room.
Born Aug. 15, 1914, in Doniphan, Mo., to Henry and Charity Langwell Holt, he married Betty M. Pride on March 20, 1948, in Morley, Mo. She died Nov. 20, 1981. He also was preceded in death by one brother.
Surviving are one son, Kevin of Peoria; one daughter, Karen Holt of Naperville; and two grandsons.
A machinist at Caterpillar Inc. for 24 years, he retired in 1972. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a member and past master of Taylor Masonic Lodge 98, AF&AM in Washington and a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria.
He was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Sunnyland.
Services will be at 7:15 tonight at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Joe Gardner will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Old Morley Cemetery in Morley, Mo.
