Crown Point, Ind.--VALMA JEWEL CABAGE,
100, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 at Wittenberg Lutheran Village in
Crown Point, Ind. She was born June 28, 1908 in Fornfelt (now
Scott City, Mo.), where she graduated from high school.
She graduated from Southeast Missouri State Teachers College (now
Southeast Missouri State University) and earned additional graduate
hours from the University of Evansville and Washington University.
Her teaching career ranged from schools in Scott County and the
Ozark Mountains during the depression to the Evansville schools where
she served as a classroom teacher. She was especially proud of
her service as a special-education teacher at Glenwood School in
Evansville, where she became known for her innovative methods.
After retirement, she and her sister, Ruth Komis, organized
reading classes for preschool children at Oakland City Public Library.

Survivors include a daughter, Lilian (Stuart) Swenson of Dyer, Ind.; a
grandson, Mark (Susan) Swenson of Northbrook, Ill.; a granddaughter,
Christine (Robert) Wildeboer of Chicago; a niece, Ann (Joe) Rhodes of
Newburgh, Ind.; and a first cousin, Don (Diane) Williams of Lake St.
Louis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Edna Drexler;
husband, Burles Cabage; a sister, Ruth (Jim) Komis; and a brother,
Claude (Ada) Drexler.
Funeral service was held Oct. 3 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in
Oakland City, Ind., with Dr. Douglas Low officiating. Burial was
in Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville.
Providence, KY--MILDRED CAIN, 72, of
Providence died Saturday, April 9, 1994, at the Regional Medical Center
in Madisonville from injuries suffered in an automobile
accident. She was born in Scott County, Mo., and was a
housewife.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Claude Cain; five sons,
Larry Cain of Diamond, Bill Cain of Providence, Gary Cain of
Birmingham, Ala., and Randy and Jerry Cain, both of Madisonville; three
daughters, Claudia Smith of Providence, Donna Lambert of Bridgeport,
Ala., and Noel Cain of Owensboro; 22 grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Oron
Waide of Owensboro.
Services were held Monday at Melton Funeral Home in Providence. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery in Providence.

SHELBY, MISS. - GARY DAVID CALLOW, SR., 60, formerly of Oran, Mo., died Oct. 7, 2001, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Born March 27, 1941, near Pop City, Mo., son of Gladys Banks Callow of
Bell City, Mo., and the late Elmer Jackson Callow, he was a farmer and
member of Hooe Baptist Church in Oran. He served on the Bell City
School Board for 16 years during which time he was president for five
years and vice president for five years. He was also a member of the
Bell City Rotary Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles at Advance, Mo.
On Sept. 13, 1960, he married Ella M. Diebold who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: four sons, David
Callow and Matt Callow of Shelby and Shane Callow and Ladd Callow of
Scott City, Mo.; two daughters, Kandy Abner of Marble Hill, Mo., and
Cindy Priggel of Oran; one brother, Dale Callow of Advance; two
sisters, Mary Bryeans of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Ruby Faulconer of
Eureka Springs, Ark.; and 12 grandchildren.
Three brothers and one granddaughter preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.

ARVADA, CO--E.M. ''ED'' CAMPBELL,
80, of Arvada died Oct. 18. Memorial services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 29, at Indian Tree Golf Course, 7555 Wadsworth Blvd.
Mr. Campbell was born in Chaffee, Mo., on Oct. 20, 1916. He married
Martha Rose, 1943. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked
at the Moody Insurance Agency in Denver. Survivors include brother
George of Missouri; sisters Bess Sheibley of Indiana, Elizabeth
McFarron of Missouri; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter.

EAST PEORIA, IL -- ROY L. CAMPBELL, 74, of 600 Arnold Road died at 1:03 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 1995, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Dec. 23, 1920, in Morley, Mo., to George More and Hattie Ann
Lancaster Campbell, he married Marion L. Drum on Feb. 4, 1939, in Cape
Girardeau, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Roy G. of Washington; two daughters, Mrs.
Edward (Sharon A.) Jones of Danvers and Mrs. Gary (Lois J.) Winnett of
Peoria; two brothers, Arlen of Buncombe and Raymon of Coffeyville,
Kan.; two sisters, Pearl Hazel of Grenada Hills, Calif., and Esther
"Pat" Nischan of Antioch; nine grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren.
His parents, his stepmother, five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
A member of United Auto Workers Local 974 and Caterpillar Retirees, he
was an assembler on the special attachments line at Caterpillar Inc.
for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of East Peoria Church
of Christ. He served as an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher at
various churches.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Remmert Funeral Home in East
Peoria. Brother James Faughn will officiate. Visitation will be from 6
to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale
Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, Peoria Chapter, or to the Arthritis Foundation.

Chaffee,
MO--ETHEL LOUISE CANNON,
91, of Chaffee died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at Southeast Missouri
Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Jan. 25, 1917 at
Poplar Bluff, Mo, daughter of Willie Edward and Cynthia Margarite
Crittenden Jeffries. She and Elmer Andrew Cannon were married
May 4, 1935. He died May 9, 2001.
Cannon retired as parts supervisor at Borg-Warner Inc. in Manchester,
Mo. She was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church in
Maplewood, Mo.
Survivors include three sons, Royce Cannon of San Antonio, TX, W. M.
"Bill" Cannon of Chaffee, Timothy Cannon of Barnhart, Mo; nine
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel
in Chaffee. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the
chapel with the Rev. Vyron Young officiating. Burial will be
in Union Park Cemetery.
Scott City, MO--The REV. H. ROGER CARBAUGH,
minister at the Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Scott City, died
unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital
in Cape Girardeau. He was 67.
Visitation tentatively will be after 4 p.m. today (Aug. 13, 1992) at
Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral
service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Christian Faith
Fellowship Church in Scott City.
Other arrangements are incomplete at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Chaffee, MO--Service for LILLIAN MARIE CARLE

Carle, 85 years old, of Chaffee, died Friday, Feb. 9, 1990 at St.
Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born Aug.
6, 1904 at Chaonia, Mo, daughter of James Henry and Sarah Elizabeth
Lewis Vanover. She was a retired sales person.
On Feb. 10, 1924 she married Leo Clyde Shoemate. He preceded her
in death on Jan 21, 1958. She later married Nathan Henry Carle.
He preceded her in death in 1971.
Survivors included two sisters-in-law, Lucy Shoemate and Molly
Shoemate, both of Puxico, MO; and eight nephews, Hugh Vanover, Oklahoma
City, OK, Edward Vanover, St. Louis, Jim Vanover, Columbia, IL, Hank
Vanover, E. Carondelet, IL, Joe Vanover, Dupo, IL, Mike Vanover,
Orange, TX, Bob Vanover, from MO and Wilford Vanover, of Mountain View,
MO. She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, and
several nieces and nephews.
Chaffee, MO--Funeral servie for MRS. LESTER CARLIN
of Chaffee was held Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home here with Rev.
Jeffry Spauding of United Methodist Church officiating. Burial
was in Friend Cemetery at Oran.
Mrs. Carlin, 65 years old, died Friday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Memphis, Tenn. She was born April 23, 1917, daughter of Eddie and
Onnie Richmond McCulley. She married Carlin April 20, 1952.
Mrs. Carlin worked several years as a nurse aide in nursing homes in
Conrad, Iowa, retiring 12 years ago. She moved here 1 1/2 years
ago from Conrad, and was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of American
Legion there.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Rindles of
Bristol, Iowa; two brothers, Lloyd McCulley of Louisville, KY, Albert
McCulley of Hope, KS; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Martin of Chaffee; four

Sikeston, MO--A Sikeston resident, MRS. ONA ANN CARMODY, 85 years old, died Saturday in a Sikeston hospital where she had been a patient for eight days.
Mrs. Carmody was born May 5, 1883, in Atlanta, Ga.
She is survived by three sons, Ed Carmody and Bud Carmody, Sikeston,
and Charles Carmody, Springfield; three daughters, Mrs. Luther
Sullivan, Hayti, Mrs. Gerald Springsted, Dodge City, KS, and Mrs. Max
Lattig, Pocatello, ID; a brother, J. D. Collins, Jonesboro, AR; two
sisters, Mrs. Bill Vickery, Bay, AR, and Mrs. Maggie Turner, Chicago,
IL; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The body is at Jackson Funeral Home in Sikeston whee funeral services
will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 by the Rev. Durward Penry.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Diehlstadt, MO--Funeral service for GREGORY NEIL CARR
of Diehlstadt was held Saturday at McMikle Funeral Chapel in
Charleston. The Revs. Jim Romine and Charles Kohlbaker
officiated, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Carr, 27 years
old, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 1990 at the Veterans Hospital in Marion,
Ill., following an extended illness. He was born June 20, 1963 at
Sikeston, son of Donald Joe and Betty Jackson Carr. He served
with the U. S. Navy seven years in Norfolk, Va., and was later a deputy
sheriff there. He was a member of the Fraternal Police Department
in Norfolk, and Cornerstone General Baptist Church in Bertrand.
Survivors include his father of Sikeston; his mother, Betty
Goering of Diehlstadt; two brothers, Jay Carr with the military in
Saudi Arabia, Justin Carr of Sikeston; two sisters, Donna and Janie
Carr of Sikeston; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Carr of
Sikeston, and maternal grandmother, Dorothy Jackson of Charleston,
Route 2. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather,

Scott City, MO--HILDA CATHERINE CARR,
66, of Scott City, died Thursday, July 18, 1991 at the Dexter Nursing
Center. She was born Nov 13, 1925 in Illmo, daughter of Roscoe
and Ruby Dorsett Carr. She was a member of the Illmo United
Methodist Church and order of Eastern Star in Illmo.
Surviving is one brother, Eugene Carr of Lees Summit.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park
Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. William Dickey officiating.
Rockview, Mo--Funeral service for ALBERT TONY CARROLL
of Rockview will be held at 11 a.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral
Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Watis Harrell will officiate, with
burial in Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee. Carroll, 60, died
Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1994 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape
Girardeau. He was born Aug. 9, 1934 in Chaffee, son of Tony and
Ida Ehrhart Carroll. He and Stella Marie Sanders were married
Feb. 5, 1955. Carroll was retired from Cape River Grain in Cape
Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Anthony and Rodney Carroll of
Chaffee; his mother, Ida Johnson of Chaffee; two stepsons, Scott Nordin
of Pocahontas, MO, Rodney Nordin of St. Louis, Mo; three stepdaughters,
Ruth Haley and Jean Bounds of Chaffee, Ada Carroll of Delta; two
brothers, Jim Carroll of St. Louis, Donnie Carroll of Jackson, Mo; a
sister, Shirley Childers of Chaffee; a grandchild; 18 stepgrandchildren
and 18 great-stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by two
stepsons, a stepgrandchild and a great-stepgrandchild.

Sikeston, MO--CLAYTON W. CARROLL, 76,
Sikeston Route 2, died Tuesday, June 2, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical
Center. He was born Sept. 12, 1916 at Charleston, son of Elijah
W. and Byrdie M. Anderson Carroll. He and Zelma Strayhorn were
married Dec. 24, 1940. Carroll was a farmer. Survivors
include his wife; a daughter, Sharon Blasingame of Dexter; and three
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral
Chapel. Lowell Blasingame and Russell Rice will officiate, with
burial in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley. Friends may

CHAFFEE - LLOYD "DUKE" CARROLL, 77, died at 5 a.m. Nov. 1, 2001, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Born Sept. 5, 1924, in Chaffee, son of the late James Edward and Amanda
Marie Willie Carroll, he retired as a self-employed handyman.
On Sept. 9, 1957, he married Patricia Louise Ussery who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Lloyd Carroll Jr. of Sikeston; one
brother, Eugene Carroll of Chaffee Route 1; and three grandchildren.
Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Sikeston, Mo--RALPH CARROLL,
78, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1992 at John J. Pershing VA
Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. He was born Aug 2, 1914 at
Cottonwood, son of John Reeder and Emma Everett Carroll. He and
Ella Louise Shuppert were married Sept. 10, 1947. Carroll owned
and operated Carroll's Florist here 35 years. He was a member of
First United Methodist Church, and was past commander of Henry Meldrum
American Legion Post 114.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ralph Carroll, Jr. of Albuquerque,
N.M.; a brother, Jesse Carroll of Jackson, Tenn., a sister, Barbara
Adkins of Saratoga, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United
Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate.

ITASCA, TX - Truck driver and son died in accident--CARL DAVID FRANKLIN CARTER, 42, and his son, ROBERT FRANKLIN CARTER, 9, both of Itasca, died Friday in an auto accident on Interstate 35 near Elm Mott, in McLennan County.
Funeral for both will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Clayton Kay Funeral
Home in Itasca. Burial will be in Woodbury Cemetery in Hill County.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Carter was born in Oran, Mo. He was a truck driver. He was a Baptist.
Robert was born in Fort Worth and was a fourth-grader at Itasca Elementary School. He was a Baptist.

82, of Arvada died May 30 in Lakewood. Services were June 4 at First
Presbyterian Church of DuPage, Bolingbrook, Ill. Mrs. Cassells was born
in Commerce, Mo., on May 12, 1915. She married Clarence W. ''Red''
Cassells, 1936. She was a homemaker. Survivors include sons James R. of
North Carolina, Wayne R. of Illinois; nine grandchildren; three

SPOKANE, WA--Memorial service for BOBBE ARLENE (CHURCH) CATON, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mrs. Caton, who was born and raised in Illmo, Mo., died Sunday.
She attended Southeast Missouri State University and Highland University in New Mexico.
Mrs. Caton taught elementary school in Illmo, Carrizozo, N.M., and
Quincy, Wash., before moving to Spokane in 1962, where she was also a
teacher.
In 1940 she married James Caton. He died in 1978.
She was a member of the Jonas Babcock Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, was a past escort for Corbin Community Center and
was a member of Whitworth Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly McCollim; a son, Hal Caton; a
brother, Bill Church of North Little Rock, Ark.; and four
grandchildren.

27 days, of Chaffee died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at her home.
She was born May 29, 2008 in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Rickey
M. and Rebekah Jo Basham Childers, II.
Survivors include her parents of Chaffee; a brother, Zachary Childers
of Chaffee; maternal grandparents, Steve and Deborah Basham of Marble
Hill, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Rickey and Laura Childers, Sr. of
Oran, Mo.; maternal great-grandparents, Junior and Linda Long of Marble
Hill, Truman and Norma Basham of Glenallen, Mo.; paternal
great-grandparents, Betty Tingle of Sikeston, Mo., Charles and Dolly
Hutson of Patton, Mo.; and maternal great-great-grandmother, Bertha
Basham of Glenallen.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandfather.

WEST HELENA, AR -EVELYN BABY BAKER CLAGGETT,
67, of Chaffee, Mo., formerly of West Helena, agriculture laborer, died
of cancer Monday at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Park.
Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena has charge. She leaves two
daughters, Estelle Larson and Lynn Sherrod Whitehead, both of Chaffee;
two sons, Billy Crowder of Chaffee and Ray Spencer of Union City,
Tenn., 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

CHAFFEE, MO - DANIEL CLARK,
72, died Sept. 10, 2001, at his home. Born Sept. 28, 1928, in
Hagenville, Ark., son of the late Henry and Alice Johnson Clark, he
trained with the U.S. Navy Training Center in San Diego, Calif., and
served with the USS Doran, Squadron 41 and at Nob, Guam, Mare Island. A
recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the
China Service Medal, he had served as apprentice seaman, seaman second
class, seaman first class and commissaryman seaman during his service
from 1945-49. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 41
years before retiring and was a member of the Chaffee Elks Lodge, VFW
Post 3127 and Trainmen's UTU.
On Sept. 23, 1950, in Piggott, Ark., he married Audrey Faye Leggett who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and
Teresa Clark of Chaffee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Angela
McGuire of Chaffee and Sharon and Don McCarty of Jackson; two sisters,
Hazel Storms of Vanduser and Myrtle Proctor of Omaha, Neb.; and six
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Six brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

KANSAS CITY, MO--LARRY D. CLARK JR.,
37, Kansas City, MO, died October 5, 1998, at Trinity Lutheran
Hospital. Cremation. Private memorial services will be
conducted in Charleston, MO, at later date.
Larry was born January 10, 1961, in Sikeston, MO, and had resided in
Kansas City, MO, for the past 12 years. He was preceded in death by his
father, Larry D. Clark Sr. and two infant daughters.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Stacy Clark and daughter, Brittney
Lee Clark, both of the home; his mother, Linda Wicker, Arlington, KY;
brothers, Doyle Wicker, Arlington, KY, Terry Clark, Benton, MO, and

Denver, CO--FRANCES M. COATES,
86, of Denver died Aug. 31. Services were Sept. 3 at Church of the
Master. Interment was in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Coates was born
Dec. 22, 1905, in Commerce, Mo. She married Olan Coates July 6, 1930,
in Denver. She is preceded in death by a son, George Olan Coates. She
is survived by her husband; three daughters, Elain M. Crawford-Modig of
Aurora, Rose Marie Reese of Denman Island, Canada, and Mary Ann Green

SCOTT CITY, MO - JESSE ONEAL COATS, 84, died at 3:20 a.m. Nov. 21, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Born March 16, 1917, in Fornfelt, son of the late Jesse Frank and Alta
Oneal Coats, he was a locomotive engineer for the Cotton Belt Railroad
and U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A life member of the Brotherhood
of Locomotive Engineers, he was also a member of H.O. Grauel Masonic
Lodge 672 of Cape Girardeau and VFW Post 6407 of Scott City.
On Dec. 7, 1941, in Jackson, he married Evelyn Rose who survives of the
home. Other survivors include: one son, Michael Coats of New
Bloomfield; one daughter, Rebecca Huck of Jackson; and four
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One sister preceded him in death.
Graveside services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at the New
Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Zackery Strong
officiating. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Scott City was in charge
of arrangements.

Goshen, IN--ALONZO "LONNIE" COLE,
82, of Goshen, died Sunday (Feb 10, 2002) at Carriage Manor Nursing
Home, Goshen. Born in Scott County, Mo., he was a long-distance truck
driver for many years and a World War II Army veteran. His wife,
Eleanor, died in 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Vicky Evans of

Indianapolis, IN--Funeral rites for JAMES RAY
COOK, 50, Indianapolis, formerly of Commerce, MO will be conducted by
Edwards Family Mortuary in Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 3, 1956 at
Rolla, MO and passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006. He was preceded in
death by his father Andy Cook in 1960 and stepfather, Dick Brazel in
2004. He is survived by his mother, Nita Brazel; two brothers, Steve
Brazel and Shawn (Robin) Brazel; two nephews, Cody and Dylan Brazel,
all of Jackson, MO. Also surviving is his loving companion, Ruth
Sander; his best little buddy, Zackary Ryan Ransdell of Indianapolis;
and his grandmother, Wanda Dodson of Scott City, M0. James served eight
years in the U.S. Navy and was engaged in construction work until
retiring with a heart condition in 2000. He was a former member of St.
Paul Methodist Church in Commerce, Mo. Being an avid hutner and
fisherman, his final resting place will be in Brown County, IN by the

SHELBYVILLE, IL–RAYMOND E. COSSIBOOM, 69, of Quincy, formerly of Shelbyville, died 10:45 a.m. Friday (June 13, 1997) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home,
Shelbyville, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in
Hubbartt Cemetery, near Beecher City, IL. Memorials: American Cancer

Mr. Cossiboom was born on July 13, 1927, in Illmo, Mo., the son of Ward
and Della Abbott Cossiboom. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for
Eckrich Food Processing Co., Quincy, and was formerly employed by
Oliver Corp. in Shelbyville and Essex Wire in Decatur. He was
affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene and was a World War II Navy
veteran. He married Wilma E. Dove on Feb. 17, 1947, in Olive Branch.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Scott Cossiboom and wife Debbie of
Gallatin, Tenn.; Bruce Cossiboom of Quincy; three grandchildren, Brian,
Thad and Beth Cossiboom.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Cossiboom, half brother, Melvin Henderson, and sister, Eleanor Cossiboom.

73, of Bothell, Wash., formerly of Colorado, died Nov. 25. Services
were Nov. 29. Mr. Council was born in Diehlstadt, Mo., on June 8, 1922.
He married Betty Jo Matthews, 1941. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was retired from the Boeing Company and was a member of the Masonic
Temple in Pueblo, the Colorado Consistory and Scottish Rite in Colorado
Springs, the El Jebel Shrine in Denver and the Denver Ham Radio Club.
Survivors include his wife; son Michael of Montana; daughter Barbara

Kelso, Mo.--EUGENE WEBSTER COX,
84, of Kelso passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at his home. He
was born Oct 29, 1923 at Gordonville, son of John and Bertha Hager Cox.
He and Helen Louise Leible were married May 30, 1947 at Kelso.
Gene worked as a carpenter for Glen Bishop Construction, Hutson Family
in Cape Girardeau, and C. A. Hood Millworks. He later purchased
Hood Millworks. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps in World War
II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Augustine
Catholic Church in Kelso, VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, Carpenters
Local 1770 in Cape Girardeau 62 years, Knights of Columbus Council 6420
in Scott City and UCT in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years; two sons, Rodney (Nancy) Cox of
Marietta, Ga., Randy Cox of Kelso; two daughters, Jeanne (Jim) Pruitt
of Cape Girardeau, Janet (Jerry) Hahn of Kelso; three grandchildren,
Shari Smith, Kathryn and Clayton Cox; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and
Adam Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic
Church. Parish prayers will be at 7. The funeral Mass will
be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as

CRADER, EX-MSU PROFESSOR, DIES
Memphis, TN--DR. E. EARL CRADER
of Memphis, retired professor and department chairman at Memphis State
University, died Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital East. He was 89.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memory Hill Gardens.
Mr. Crader was professor of education and chairman of the Department of
Administration Supervision in the graduate school at Memphis State
University from 1952 to 1972. He was executive secretary for West
Tennessee Teachers Association from 1959 to 1986.
He was superintendent of high schools in Diehlstadt, Mo., from 1928
until 1952 when he moved to Memphis State. He was past president of the
Southeast Missouri Teachers Association.
A 1928 graduate of Southeast Missouri State College at Cape Girardeau,
he received his PhD from George Peabody College in Nashville in 1952.
Mr. Crader leaves his wife, Luda Crader; two sons, Ronald Dwight Crader
of Sikeston, Mo., and Donald Neil Crader of Germantown; a sister,
Geraldine Bohannon of Bloomington, Ind., five grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - FREEDA CRAIN, 91, formerly of Dexter, died Dec. 1, 2001, at the Lutheran Home.
Born Aug. 26, 1910, in Diehlstadt, daughter of the late Perly and Laura
Ann Hogg Collier, she had been employed by Elder Manufacturing in St.
Louis and Dexter before retiring.
On July 2, 1938, at New Madrid, she married Rufus "Doc" Crain who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1992.
Survivors include: one son, Carlton Crain of Dallas, Texas; one
daughter, Phyllis Oliver of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Leeda Glenn of
Las Vegas, Nev.; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One brother, Fred Collier, also preceded her in death.

TELL CITY, Ind. - THELMA CRENSHAW, 84, of
Tell City died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at Perry County Memorial
Hospital in Tell City. She was born in Scott County, Mo., and was a
homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin T. Crenshaw;
and a son, Eugene Crenshaw.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Crenshaw of Georgetown, Calif.; five
daughters, Lorene Smith of Auburn Hills, Mich., Bea Worsley of Tell
City, JoAnn Rucker of White Cloud, Mich., Brenda Stump of Carlton,

Anna, IL--WILLIAM MARSHALL CRIDER, 83, formerly of Manteno, IL, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug 28, 2008 in City Care Center in Anna.
He was born Aug. 2, 1925 in East Prairie, Mo., the son of Frank and
Mattie Grant Crider. He married Inis Kathryn Forby on Nov. 24,
1951 in Trussville, Ala.
William is survived by his wife, Inis Kathryn Crider; five children,
Marshall Crider and wife, Deanna, of Mary Esther, Fla., Marsha Simmons
and husband, Sam, of Bourbannais, IL, Bobbie Crider of Conroe, Texas,
Delaina Caise and husband, Allen, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Allen Crider
and wife, Sonya, of Berthoud, Colo.; two sisters, Clara Daniels of
Chaffee, Mo., and Gertrude Kohr of Scott City, Mo.; nine grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gertrude May Crider; and half-brother, Odell Tiewater.
William worked as a press operator and retired from General Motors Corporation after 30 years of service.

ORAN, MO - ROSA MAE CURTIS,
69, died at 8:51 p.m. Aug. 31, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in
Cape Girardeau. Born Jan. 25, 1932, in Gideon, daughter of the late
Henry and Ella Kellum Brown, she retired as a licensed practical nurse
for the Chaffee Nursing Center. She was a member of Hooe Baptist Church
near Oran.
Her husband, Clyde Curtis Sr., survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Clyde Curtis Jr. of Cape Girardeau
and Melvin Curtis of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Karla Seyer of
Austin, Texas, Barbara Heisserer of Indianapolis, Ind., and Susan
Martin of Waynesville; one sister, Lucille Stidham of Pinellas Park,
Fla.; and 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
