MIKE J. EDWARDS,
a retired Gulf States Utilities Co. employee and a resident of Baton
Rouge, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 1997, at Baton Rouge
General Medical Center. He was 73 and a native of Vanduser, Mo. He was
a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral
Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and after 8
a.m. Saturday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 9 a.m.
Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Jim Bain. Graveside services at
Blackwell Cemetery,Folsom, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Survived by wife,
Margaret Joyce Dickson Edwards; a son, Mike J. Edwards Jr., San

a brother, Dr. James D. Edwards, Athens, Ga.; a granddaughter, Phaedra

Clement, both of Houston, and Jeffrey Jr. and Lindsey Richards, both of
Natchez, Miss. Preceded in death by parents, the Rev. Thomas T. Sr. and
Reitha Cranford Edwards; and a brother, Thomas T. Edwards Jr. He was a
member of Istrouma Baptist Church, Campus Bible class at LSU, Baton
Rouge Lodge No. 372, F&AM, and Cajun Clickers. He was a ham radio

EICHHORN,
73, of Inverness, died Saturday (Feb. 24, 1990). Born in New Hamburg,
Mo., he moved to Inverness 28 years ago from Clearwater. He was a
retired building contractor, a member of the First Assembly of God
Church, a charter member and past president of the Beverly Hills Lions
Club and a former zone chairman for the Florida Lions Club. Survivors
include his wife, Helen; a son, John, Hernando; four daughters, Mary
Horne and Joyce Colston, both of Inverness, Linda Hickey, Hernando, and
Brenda Gorham, Jacksonville; four brothers, Marvin, Clyde and Cyril,
all of Chaffee, Mo., and Ervin, Kelso, Mo.; two sisters, Coena Urhaun
and Rose Talley, both of Chaffee; 10 grandchildren; and three

JACKSON, MO -
CHARLES LEON EIFERT, 69, formerly of Scott City, died at 9:44 a.m. Oct. 24, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 23, 1932, in Illmo, son of the late Paul Casper and Hattie
Bretzel Eifert, he was an engineer for the Cotton Belt Railroad and
partner with Eifert-Mayfield Construction. A member of St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Jackson and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, he
served with the National Guard from 1952-1955.
On Dec. 20, 1958, at Cape Girardeau, he married Delores Selena Keesee who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, David Eifert of Jackson; two
daughters, Tambra Eifert of Rolla and Lori Martin of Jackson; one
brother, Raymond Eifert of Scott City; and two grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. Saturday until service time at 10
a.m. at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City. The Rev. Robert
Henrichs will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery at Scott City.

WALTER BRITTON ELLIS, JR.,
90, of St. Petersburg, was born July 5, 1918, in Chaffee, Mo., the son
of Walter Britton Ellis Sr. and Bertha Agnes Marie Johnson Ellis,
passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, at the Masonic Home of Florida, St.
Petersburg.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hellen Loraine Kurtz Ellis;
his second wife and soul mate, Helen Elisabeth Reid Ellis; brothers,
William Burl Ellis, Burnett Earl Ellis, Robert Leonard Ellis, Richard
Arthur Ellis and Jim Jack Ellis; and his son, Francis Edward Ellis.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellis Buehrig, Clearwater; brother,
Gerald Walker Ellis, Trenton, Ill.; daughters, Phyllis Lorraine Ellis
Francis, Alvarado, Texas, and Sharon Lucille Ellis, Austin, Texas; son,
Richard Bruce Ellis, Celebration, Fla.; stepdaughter, Joan Offermann
Ramos, Austin, Texas; stepson, Claus Warren Offermann, Munich, Germany;
daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ellis, Merritt Island, Fla.; 11 grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many
nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II, having served aboard
the USS Cossatot under the command of Cmdr. P.G. Beck, USNR, serving as
a radioman aboard the tanker, which was a refueling ship for the
American Fleet during the war.
The majority of his life was spent as a Master Electroplater. After
retirement, he and Helen sold hunting articles at gun shows in the area
for many years. He was an honorable man who took all vows and oaths
seriously, a loyal friend, loving father with a great sense of irony
and a wry sense of humor. He thoroughly enjoyed Westerns, history and
Sci-Fi books and movies. He took up the hobbies of crossword puzzling
and cryptography, which were an effective means to keep his mind
perfectly sharp to the very end. He was initiated in the Masonic Order
in 1974 and raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason, in DeSoto
Lodge 105, F.&A.M., Riverview, in November 1974. He was Consecrated
Master of the Royal Secret and received his 32nd Degree in May 1975,
becoming Worshipful Master of DeSoto Lodge in 1980. Invested Knight
Commander Court of Honor, receiving his 32nd degree KCCH in October
1983, became Venerable Master Lodge of Perfection in 1987, Wardrobe
Chairman and Captain of Scared Robes for the Scottish Rite from 1984 to
1997. He received his proficiency in Blue Lodge in 1994, passing the
Master Mason Exams in 1997, at which time he was honored with the 33rd
Degree. He received his 25 year Service Award in 1999 and was honored
with the appointment of Chaplain Emeritus of Sun City Shrine Club and
High 12 Club, December 2008. He was also a member of the Ancient and
Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Egypt Temple Shrine, Sun City
Shrine Club, High 12, Order of the Eastern Star, DeSoto Chapter 201,
Riverview. He was a devoted volunteer to service at the Shriners
Children's Hospital and the Masonic Home of Florida from 1974 to 1997.
He will be sorely missed by his family, extended family, many brother
Masons and special friends. Masonic funeral services will be conducted
1 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview
Drive, Riverview, by DeSoto Lodge 105, F.&A.M., Riverview.
Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

ALMA LAURA ENDERLE, 82, died at 1:55 a.m. Oct. 27, 2001, at the Jackson Manor.
Born March 4, 1919, in New Hamburg, daughter of the late Michael and
Heneritta Linhart Bucher, she retired from the Lutheran Home at Cape
Girardeau in 1981 and was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and
St. Ann's Sodality of New Hamburg.
On June 5, 1943, at Kelso, she married Paul Peter Enderle who preceded her in death on April 4, 1963.
Survivors include: two sons, Herman Enderle of Chaffee and David
Enderle of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Anna Marie Enderle of
Matthews and Helen Kinnison Felty of Cape Girardeau; one brother,
Michael Bucher of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Mary Frances Rosencranz of
Chicago; and one stepbrother, five stepsisters, seven grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
One brother, one stepbrother and one stepsister also preceded her in death.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Lawrence Catholic
Church with Monsignor Phillip Bucher and the Rev. Normand Varone
officiating.
Burial followed in the St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery at Kelso.
Pallbearers were: David Enderle, Herman Enderle, Michael Brucher, Ray Enderle, Scot Enderle and Andrew Kinnison.

ROSALIA MARY ENDERLE, 96, died at 11:20 p.m. Dec. 31, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 12, 1905, in Kelso to the late Joseph and Caroline Heisserer
Schaefer, she was employed by A.C. Spark Plug Factory. A member of the
St. Augustine Catholic Church at Kelso, she was a member of the St.
Ann's Sodality at the church and the Senior Citizens of Kelso
On Nov. 6, 1928, at Kelso, she married Benjamin Frank Enderle, who
preceded her in death on July 27, 2000. Also two brothers and two
sisters preceded her in death.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral
Chapel in Scott City where a parish Rosary is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Thursday.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St.
Augustine Catholic Church with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery.

Born Nov. 14, 1993, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Ronald Joseph and
Laura Anne Riley Essner, she was a second grade student at St. Denis
Catholic School. She was also a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in
Benton.

Essner, Lance Essner, Ross Essner and Seth Essner of the home; her
paternal grandparents, Paul and Geneva Essner of Benton; and her

born in Diehlstadt, Mo., on Aug. 15, 1910. She married Alfred Estes,
1930. She worked for Montgomery Ward. She was a member of the Eastern
Star organization. Survivors include sons Alfred of Denver, Jerry of
