DANIEL BOONE TIMELINE

Information for this timeline was taken from
the book "My Father, Daniel Boone", The Draper Interviews
with Nathan Boone.



1734-Daniel Boone was born on October 22 (by the old style calendar) in Berks County PA.
1744-Daniel killed birds and small game while acting as herdsman so his mother could tend to milking.
1746-Daniel received his first gun from his father and began hunting.
1751-Daniel left PA for North Carolina with his parents when he was 17.
1752-Daniel and his parents moved to the Yadkin River Valley.
1753-Daniel met his future wife Rebecca Bryan at the wedding of William Bryan and Mary Boone.
1755-Daniel served under General Braddock, conveying the baggage for Braddock's company.
1755-Daniel met Finley who told him of Kentucky.
1756-Daniel married Rebecca Bryan.
1761-Daniel and others went hunting in the Holston Valley and East Tennessee.
1762-Daniel met General George Washington at Fredericksberg.
1762-Daniel and Rebecca had a daughter, Jemima on October 4th.
1767-Daniel left Yadkin Valley in search of KY by way of  Big Sandy River, but failed in this attempt.
1767-Daniel was caught in a severe snowstorm while out hunting near the Big Sandy River.
1768-Daniel and others made a trip to Florida to explore.
1769-Daniel and John Stewart were captured by Indians while hunting in KY and held for 7 days.
1770-Daniel explored near Blue Licks and the Ohio River.
1773-Daniel made his first attempt to settle in KY, was attacked by Indians, son James was killed.
1774-Daniel made another attempt to settle Kentucky.
1774-Daniel was commissioned by Gov. Dunmore to raise a company to march on Plesant Point.
1775-Daniel and others found the remains of John Stewart in a hollow tree.
1775-Daniel and others arrived at the future site of Fort Boonesborough.
1775-Daniel and others rescued Jemima and 2 other girls who were abducted by Indians.
1777-Daniel broke his ankle defending Fort Boonesborough when it was attacked by Indians.
1778-Daniel was taken as prisoner by Indians.
1778-Daniel and others fought of Indians when Fort Boonesborough was attacked. 
1781-Daniel and Rebecca's son Nathan was born on March 21 at Boone's Station.
1784-Daniel moved his family from Boone's Station to a farm on Marble Creek in KY.
1787-Daniel worked to dig Gensing and sell it in Philadelphia.
1787-Daniel helped a young white girl, Chloe Finn, who had been captured and released by Indians.
1789-Daniel visited Oley PA where his parents had lived previously to visit friends and relatives.
1789-Daniel went to Richmond to serve in the legislature.
1791-Daniel was a leutenant colonel in the militia.
1794-Daniel and his son Nathan went hunting together.
1795-Daniel and his family settled on a tract of land in Bourbon County, KY.
1796-Daniel and his son Nathan spent the winter hunting near the Big Sandy River.
1798-Daniel moved to land near the mouth of the Little Sandy River.
1798-Daniel was invited to settle in the Upper Louisiana Terretory by Governor Trudeau.
1799-Daniel made plans to move to the Upper Louisiana Terretory. 
1799-Daniel and his family and others leave for Upper Louisiana in mid-September.
1808-Daniel went hunting with his grandson and a black man named Derry.
1808-Daniel became sick while out hunting.
1809-Daniel and Rebecca went to St Charles to comfort their homesick grandson.
1813-Daniel's wife Rebecca died on March 18.
1820-Daniel died on September 26 at his son Nathan's home.
