Obit: Death notice, as published in the Houston Herald on July 3, 1930:
W. S. Carter died last Wednesday morning at about 2 o'clock and was buried at
Hickory Ridge Wednesday night about 7 o'clock. Rev. Elmer Snyder conducted the
funeral services. He was an honest, substantial and respected citizen whose
passing is regretted by many relatives, neighbors, and friends.
Missouri Death Cert. #21679 states that Mr. Carter died from typhoid fever.
He was the husband of Sarah Carter and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Carter of
Kentucky. He died at the age of 77 years, 4 mos and 2 days.
Though not listed on his certificate of death, his birth date would have been on
or about Feb. 23, 1853.

W.O. Carter
William Oscar Carter, son of William Stanton and Eliza Ann Carter was born at
Elmer, MO., on January 16, 1895,
and died at the Veterans Hospital in Popular Bluff, Mo., on April 17, 1969
making his age at the time of death, 74 years 3 months and 1 day.
He is survived by his wife, Leah, and nine children; six sons, Wesley Carter and
Marshall of Bucyrus; Vernon and Wilford Carter of Success; Kenneth Carter of Ft.
Polk, Louisiana; three daughters, Lorine Arnold of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; Hazel
Postlewaite of Bucyrus;
Ruby Ramsey of Ellis Prairie; he is also survived by Grover Carter of Fair
(unreadable); one sister, Pearl Roberts, also 46
grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 20 at the Hickory Ridge Church.
The Rev. N.E. Snyder and the Rev. W.E. Campbell officiating. Burial was in the
Hickory Ridge Cemetery, under the direction of Evans-Elliott.

Obit: Anna Fay Casebeer, 93, daughter of Ulysses Grant and Mary Ellen Evans
McKinney, was born July 9, 1905 near Upton.
She died April 28, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital at Mountain View.
She married Vernie Clifford Casebeer Dec. 25, 1928. They had one son.
Mrs. Casebeer spent her lifetime in Texas County, graduating from Houston High
School in 1928.
She was a teacher for more than 40 years, retiring in 1972.
The Casebeers lived in the Fairview community for many years. After Mr.
Casebeer's death, she moved to Van Buren with her son.
She was living in a nursing home at the time of her death.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, her church, Monday night sing-alongs
and Friday night domino games.
She was active in the Fairview Pentecostal Church, serving in whatever capacity
she was needed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie; six brothers and sisters, May
Sails, Henry McKinney, Beulah Hammer, Charles McKinney, Raymond McKinney and
Audrey Scott. Surviving are her son, Gayle Courtney Casebeer; two grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
Services were May 1 at the Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev.
Derrel Friend officiating.
Burial was in the Dykes Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of
Houston.

DRESSIE MILLIE COATS, 84, daughter of Thomas B. and Rebecca Kerns Coats, was born near Bado, Mo. She died March 27, 1969, at the Kabul Nursing Home after a lingering illness.
She was united in marriage Dec. 15, 1907 to Jess W. Sponsler and to this union five children were born; four sons; Paul of Mtn. Grove, Earl of Cabool, Loyd of Hartville and Chester of Springfield and one daughter Bulah Cox of Buffalo, Mo.
She spent her entire life in Texas County in and near the Bado community and was a member of the Hamilton Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Jan.3, 1939. Survivors are her five children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m., March 30, in the Bado Community Church with the Rev. Payton Smyer officiating. Burial was under the direction of Elliott-Gentry of Cabool
