AGED PIONEER SUCCUMBS
Robert William Elliott was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, Dec. 7, 1851, and died at the home of his son David,
near Simmons, March 1, 1934.
Forty eight years ago he came to Texas county, settling on a farm on Hamilton Creek.
In 1889 he was married to Margaret Dunberry. Four children were born, David, Ling,Franklin and Benjamin. His wife died 14 years ago, since which time he has made his home with his son David. Two sons survive, David and Ling; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; also surviving are a brother in Ohio and a sister.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 4, by the Rev. J. J. Carty, from the Union church near Lundy. Burial was in the cemetery in charge of the Elliott Funeral Home.

Ling Elliott Died Yesterday
Ling Alonzo Elliott, son of Robert and Margaret Elliott, was born April 1, 1882, in Ohio, and died June 27, 1934, at Hamilton Creek at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ella Jarrett.
He came to Texas county with his parents when a very small child and grew to manhood here. He was married
to Mollie Meade in March, 1906. To this union ten children
were born, seven surviving him as follows: Henry, Nellie, Mrs. Ella Jarrett, Alvie, Lee, Lena and Arlene, who were
at his bedside when death came.
His wife died June 27, 1924, just ten years before her husband. One brother also survives, David Elliott.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. J. Carty at Rocky Branch, Wednesday afternoon,with burial in the cemetery under direction of the Elliott Funeral Home.

Mr. Lorenzo D. Edwards

Died-Mr. Lorenzo D. Edwards (father of Joel Caylor's wife, Lizzie), an old citizen of Texas county, died at his
home on Hamilton Creek Tuesday evening
and was buried with Masonic honors at Union Wednesday; a number of Masons from this place attending the burial.
Mr. Edwards was near seventy years of age and had made his home for a number of years with his children in
this county. He formerly lived at Edgar Springs,Phelps county.
He was a Confederate soldier, a Mason, and stood well as a citizen.The Herald extends sympathy to the bereaved
children.

Levena Grace Ellis
Levena Grace Ellis of Cabool was born at Roby, Missouri, November 4, 1922 and departed this life in her home
February 9, 1986 at age 63 years, three months and five days.
On July 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to Delmar Ellis and to this union six children were born. She is survived
by her husband, Delmar; three sons, Don of St. Joseph, Missouri, Lloyd of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Lindel of the
home; three daughters, Venita McCart, Pekin, Illinois, Janice Ellis of Springfield, Missouri, and Debra Murr of
Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Geneva Rimel of Cabool and June Ireland, of McClenny, Florida;
and a brother, Lawrence Archer of Villa Ridge, Missouri.
She was preceded in passing by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Van Archer; a sister, Effa Bell Bennett of Cabool.
Mrs. Ellis was a life long resident of Cabool graduating with the class of 1941 from Cabool High School and was
a member of the First Baptist Church of Cabool and most recently was employed at Cabool Tire Co., as a bookkeeper.
The graciousness with which she lived, the devotion to her family and kindness to a host of friends will be most
cherished by all who knew her. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, in Elliott-Gentry Chapel with
Rev. Dick Wakefield officiating. Burial was in Cabool Cemetery.

George Delmer Ellis
George Delmer Ellis was born May 18, 1923 in Texas County, Missouri, to Esty and Edna Ellis. He passed away
at his home near Cabool, Missouri, on March 7, 1993 at the age of 69 years, nine months and 19 days. He had been
in ill health for several years. He graduated from Cabool High School in 1943 and was united in marriage to Levena
Grace Archer, July 2, 1944. To this union six children were born.
He retired from MFA where he worked as manager of the Farmers Grocery, Farmers Exchange and Feeder Pig Association,
all of Cabool. He was active in many civic organizations including the Cabool Jaycees and Cabool Chamber of Commerce,
and had served on the school board. He was a veteran of World War 11, a member of the Masonic Lodge and Cabool
First Baptist Church.
He was a loving father who will be sadly missed by three daughters, Venita McCart of Pekin, Illinois, Janice McCain
of Springfield, Missouri, and Debra Murr of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Donald of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Lloyd
of Berwyn, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Also surviving are five sister, Mildred Oxley,
Violet Curtis, Leona Knapp, Lucille Halls, and Jo Reese, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in passing by his wife, Levena, in 1986 and a son, Lindel, in 1988, also, two brothers, Elmer Ellis
and Winford Ellis, as well as his parents.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 1993 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Stuart officiating.
Burial was in Cabool Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Ice, Dale Cartwright, Bill Honeycutt, Delmar Surby, Darrel
Etter and Gary Dotson. Services were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home.

Lindel Walter Ellis
Lindel Walter Ellis, son of Delmar and LaVena Archer Ellis, was born in Cabool April 5, 1960 and departed this
life December 15, 1988 in rural Texas County at the age of 28 years. He was a lifelong resident of this area, graduating
from Cabool High School in 1987. For the past few months he has been employed by the SRC Co. in Willow Springs.
Several years ago he was saved and baptized into first Baptist Church of Cabool. He was a very likable and friendly
person who will be missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his father, Delmar Ellis, of Cabool; three sisters, Janice McCain of Springfield, Missouri, Venita
McCart of Pekin, Illinois, and Debbie Murr of Lebanon, Missouri, two brother - Lloyd Ellis of Milwarkee, Wisconsin,
and Donald Ellis of St. Joseph, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends. Lindel has been preceded in
passing by his mother in 1986. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 1988 in Elliott-Gentry Chapel
with Rev. K. A. Bolerjack officiating. Burial was in Cabool Cemetery.

Mrs Martha Ann (Flowers) Edwards
Mrs Martha Ann Edwards of Cimarron died Friday March 21 in the Fulmer Convalescent Home in Dodge City, where she
has been a patient for the past three years. Mrs. Edwards would have been 92 years old April 10. She was born in
Texas County, Missouri. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Flowers. She and Harrison Edwards were married in
Missouri in 1884. They went to Oklahoma in 1916. Mr. Edwards died there January 13, 1922. Mrs. Edwards came to
Cimmarron to make her home in 1928.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Polly Ward of Cabool, Missouri and Mrs Nancy Robertson of Santa Cruz, Calif. and
three brothers, Milo Flowers of Cimarron and Perry and Henry Flowers of Ingalls. Mrs. Edwards was a Baptist. Funeral
services were held in the Federated Church in Ingalls, Sunday March 23. Burial was in the Cimarron Cemetery. Dunsford
Funeral Home of Cimarron was in charge.

Ica J. Edwards
Ica J. Edwards, the third child of Ben and Margaret Flowers was born in Texas County, Missouri August 22,
1896 and died at the Mc Carty Hospital April 8, 1918 following an operation for appendicitis. The family moved
to Oklahoma where the home was broken by the death of the mother in 1913. The older sister being married, Ica and
an older brother, now on his way to France, tried to keep the younger sister together, after two years, found they
could not give them the advantages deserved, the home was broken up and the children found homes with their mother's
brothers. Ica was always faithful and conscientious in her work and was especially good to the little folks. She
was a member of the Baptist Church and lived a devout Christian life. She will be greatly missed especially at
the Red Cross rooms where she was an efficient everyday worker.

Obit: 08 June, 1922-Nagle Rev. Jesse Elmore died Sunday, 04 June, at his home
near Clear Springs. Rev. Elmore had been in failing health for some time.
Relatives and friends have our sympathy.
A Family Reunion All of the children, excepting one, several grand-children and
greatgrandchildren of Mrs. Margaret Elmore,
gathered at her home on Jack's Fork.
Tuesday, July 26, 1938. They had not all been together since August 15, 1933.
All went to the creek where a bountiful dinner was served. The afternoon was
spent in visiting, swimming, and taking pictures.
Everyone had an exceedingly nice time and departed at a late hour hoping to meet
again next summer.
