 Custer Country - Located in Southeastern Montana, Custer Country is most notably know
 by the historical battle that occurred in 1876 between the United States Seventh Calvary
Regiment led by Lt. Col George Armstrong Custer and the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians
led by Sitting Bull. This legendary battle was called the Battle of the Little Bighorn and is
 memorialized at the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument within the boundaries
of the Crow Indian reservation.
Custer Country also has many popular dinosaur fossil dig sites.

 Miles City is the county seat in Custer County.County name was originally Big Horn.
In 1877 was renamed to Custer after Gen. George A. Custer. Custer county is in the
southeast section of Montana. Neighboring counties are Carter, Fallon, Powder River,
Prairie and Rosebud.

 
The community was named after Gen. Nelson Appleton Miles, who led
campaigns against Indian tribes
The latitude of Miles City is 46.408N. The longitude is -105.84W.
It is in the Mountain Standard time zone. Elevation is 2,369 feet.
Custer County is one of 56 counties in Montana. The estimated
 population in 2004 was 11,454. This was a decrease of -2.07% from the 2000 census.
