Mr. James U. Thompson, living near Cedar Cliff in this county, died Monday night. He was about 68 years old, a good citizen, and from youth a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Mary J. Thompson, widow of the late Jas. U. Thompson, whose home was near Cedar Cliff, died at the homeof her step-daughter, Mrs. D.C. Holt, a mile and a half southwest of here. Tuesday moring at 3 o'clock, aged over 70 years. The remains were buried at Hawfields yesterday.

Thompson, William Nathaniel, Private First Class, United States Army, was killed in action in Vietnam on March 16, 1966, Pfc. Thompson, age 22, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Nathaniel Thompson of Route 1, Mebane. He was buried with full military honors at Hawfields Presbyterian Church.

Ernest E. Turner
Ernest E. Turner, 75 of 224 Harden St died in a Greensboro nursing home today at 4:30 a.m. following a lengthy illness.
A native of Alamance county, he was the son of the late James William and Rhoda King Turner, and the husband of the late Mrs. Evie Jeffreys Turner.  He was a retired driver for Burlington Industries, having driven for 30 years.
Survivors include his son, Erwin A. “Bill” Turner of the home; daughters, Mrs. Naomi Mann, Graham, Mrs. W. Fred Montgomery Jr., Burlington; brother, Walter Turner, Burlington; sister, Mrs. Henry Jones, Burlington: six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Final rites will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at McCrey Primitive Baptist church.  Elder Wallis Smith, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will remain at McClure Funeral Home in Graham until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.  The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
