Auton, Bobbie Maxsen
SP4 Bobbie Maxsen Auton, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Taylorsville, NC. He was born April 18, 1942 in Taylorsville, North Carolina
As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SP4 Auton served our country until May 23rd, 1967 in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam. He was 25 years old and was not married. It was reported Bobbie died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered. SP4 Auton is on panel 20E, line 088 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.
Bobbie is remembered each Memorial weekend at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church here in Taylorsville, North Carolina. He is given full miltary honors each time along with five other members who were KIA.
He was the son of Mr and Mrs Walter L Auton, Route #1, Taylorsville, NC.
He served with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry, "Wolfhounds", 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
