Meadows, Velma B.
Velma B. Meadows, age 71, of Taylorsville, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Alexander County, April 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Garland Leroy and Vada Lucy Eva Icenhour Smith. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Meadows was an active member of Wayside Baptist Church where she was known affectionately as "Blue Bird". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ted Warren Meadows; and two sisters, Marclene Icenhour and Juanita Wilds.
Survivors include three sons, Ted Allen Meadows, and Terry Meadows and wife Sherry, all of Taylorsville, and Rex Meadows and wife Donna of Hickory; one daughter, Robin Earp and husband Chris of Hiddenite; one brother, Arthur Smith and wife Shirley of Taylorsville; three sisters, Linda Sue Shook and husband Tom of Hickory, Lillie George of Taylorsville, and Lois Mitchell and husband Billy of Taylorsville; nine grandchildren, Emily Meadows, Amanda Meadows, Tia Meadows Andras, Tasha Meadows, Christy Earp Arrowood, Justin Earp, Erin Meadows, Amber Meadows, and Lindsey Meadows; one great- granddaughter, Taylor Andras; a very special friend, Lewis Burgess; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 7, at Wayside Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Kiser officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Justin Earp, Robert Wiles, Michael Andras, Garland Ramsey, Cuffey Icenhour and Byron Harrington.
