PFC Michael Thomas Evans, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Wadesboro, NC. Michael was born January 2, 1948 in Wadesboro, Anson County, North Carolina
Private First Class Michael Thomas Evans was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, PFC Evans served our country until April 26th, 1968 in Thua Thien, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was not married. It was reported that Michael died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered. PFC Evans is on panel 52E, line 017 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.
He was the son of Mrs Margie M Evans, Route #1, Box 187-C, Wadesboro, NC.
He served with Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 'Geronimo', 101st Airborne Division, "Screaming Eagles", USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
Burial: Brown Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadesboro, Anson Co., North Carolina
