In the Name of God Amen, I, Samuel Slade, of Beufort County, within the Province of North Carolina, Planter, being in good Health of Body & in Perfect Sound Mind & Memory, praised be God for it, But Knowing the uncertainty of this Life and that it is appointed for all men One to die, Do make, Ordain, Constitute & appoint This to be my last Will & Testament, To Say, First, I Will that all my Just Debts be paid, my Funeral Rights dischrged & satisfied; And as Touching my Worldly Goods I give, bequeath & Devise in Manner following to:

First, to my beloved Daughter, Elizabeth, Wife of William Dunbarr, give my two Female Slaves known by the Names Serey & Judey, but the Child that Serey is at this Time pregnant with Igive unto my Grand Daughter, Mary, the Eldest Daughter, of William Dunbarr & my Daughter Elizabeth. I also give unto my Daughter, Elizabeth, aforesaid, One Bed of Feathers, One Pair of Sheets, One Rugg & a Bed stead & three Cows & their Calves. Unto my Grand-Son, Samuel Dunbarr, I give & bequeath all that Tract or Parcel of Land, being & lying on the South Side of Pamtico River, at the Head of Blounts Creek, & on a Branch known by the Name of Good Neighbourhood Branch, & near this Land whereon I now Dwell, which Land was granted Unto me by his Excelency Gabriel Johnston, the Present Governor of this Province.

unto my beloved Daughter, Hanah, the Wife of William Tossyue (?) I give two Shillings, Sterling, with full Value in Current Money of the Province.

unto my Grandson Samuel Blount, son of James Blount, begotten on the Body of my Daughter and his late wife Jane, I give my Negro Male Slave Named Joshawa, that is now a Child about four Years of Age; and also two Cows & their Calves.

Unto my Grand Daughter, Mary Blount, Daughter of James & Jane Deceesed as aforesaid. I give my Nesyo Female Negro Slave named Charley, now an Infant, an also two Cows & their Calves.

Unto my Dearly beloved Daughter, Susana Slade, I give, Devise & bequeath this my Manner Plantation, whereon I now Dwell with all the Buildings, Houses, Edifices and Improvements thereon & all the Tools, Tackell & utinsils thereunto belonging, with all other my Lands not before given, to be holden to her & her Heirs, as also all the Rest, Remainer & Residue of my Estate as Goods, Chattels, Apperrell, HouseHold Furniture, & Slaves. Especially Jack & Jerome & Sam & Nan, and all other things or Part of my Worldly Estate unto me belonging, or any wise appertaining, all these I give unto my Daughter, Susana, aforesaid.

I Do nominate & appoint my beloved Daughter, Susana, to Executrix & Benjamin Rigney & Jacob Nevell, both of the County, Executors of this my last Will & Testament.

James & Phillip Shute, Signing Evidences thereto, who swear that they see'd the afsd. Deceasd Sign. Seal, Publish & Declare the Within to be his last WQI & Testament, and that they seed the other Subscribing Evidences witness the Same. Benjn. Rignic Exor. within named qualified himself by taking the Exor's Oath according to Law.   Ordered that the Secrty. have Notice thereof.

In the Name of God, Amen. I, Henry Snoad, of the County of Beaufort, in the Province of North Carolina, being Sick & weak in Body, but of Sound mind, do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament:

First & principally, I recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God, hoping thro' the merits & intercession of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ, to have full & free pardon of all my Sins & to inherit everlasting life; and as touching all such temporal Estate as it hath pleased him to bestow upon me, I do dispose of it in manner following, Viz:

Imprimis, I will and desire that all my just Debts & Funeral Expenses be paid as soon as possible after my Decease.

Item, I give & bequeath unto my Son, John Peyton Snoad, the Plantation whereon I now live, containing four hundred & fifty acres of land; and also the Plantation I bought of John Lane, together with all the Houses, Fields, Improvements & Appurtenances belonging to both & either of them, to him & his Heirs for ever: Provided, nevertheless, & I do declare it to be my Intent & meaning, that my Sister, Mary Lane, have the quiet use & Occupation of the plantation I bought of John Lane aforescL, during her Life. likewise I give & bequeath unto my Sd. son, John Peyton Snoad, my Plantation lying on the Herring Hun, binding on the Plantation, I bought of John Lane, containing three hundred acres of Land. Likewise, I give & bequeath unto my sd. Son, John Peyton Snoad, my Silver Watch, my Silver hilted Sword (now in the possession of Stephen Cade), my Silver Shoe & Knee Buckles, Six Large Silver Spoons, my Silver Can, my Gold Sleeve Buttons, my Mahogany Desk, & my gilt fram’d Looking Glass, & my large China Bowl.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my Son, Benja. Snoad, my Plantation lying in the Cow pen Neck, below Win. Spear's, containing Six hundred & fourty Acres of Land. Likewise, I give & bequeath unto my sd- Son, Benja. Snoad, My Plantation lying at the Mouth of white Oak River, on Queens Creek, containing Six hundred & fourty Acres, to him & his Heirs for ever. Likewise, I give & bequeath unto my sd. Son, Benja. Snoad, my Silver hilted Sword that was my Father's, Six large Silver Spoons, my black Walnut Looking Glass, & all my China Ware that is now at home, excepting what is before bequeathed.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my Daughter, Ann Snoad, my Plantation lying at the Mouth of Blunt's Creek, conta'ing four hundred & fourty Acres, to her & her Heirs for ever. Likewise, I give & bequeath unto my sd. Daughter, Ann Snoad, Six Silver Tea Spoons, my Silver Tea Tongs, my Silver Pepper Box, my Tea Table, & all my China Ware & cloaths that were her Mothers, now in Possession of my Aunt Chauncy.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto my sd. Sons, John Peyton Snoad & Benja. Snoad, all my Books to be equally divided between them.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my Sisters, fourty Shillings sterl. apiece, to buy each of them a Ring.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto my Sister, Mary Lane, enough Money to purchase a couple of Slate Grave Stones, for her Son Jno. Snoad Lane, who lies buried in my Orchard-Item, Likewise, I give & bequeath xmto my Friend Walley Chauncey, hereafter named my Executor, my black Stallion, wch I bought of Stephen, Cade, together with my best Bridle, Saddle, Case of Pistols, & Gun that was my Fathers; and I also give & bequeath unto his Wife, my Aunt Chauncy, fourty Shfllings sterL, to buy her a Ring, & also Five pounds sterl. to be disposed of (as) she shall think fit.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my Friend, James Bonner, hereafter named my Executor, my Gun & Sword that was my brother William's.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto William Oglesby, My Apprentice, A set of Carter's Tools, & a new Suit of Cloaths.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my sd. Children, John Peyton Snoad, Benja. Snoad, & Ann Snoad, aU the remaining part cf my Estate, wether real or Personal, to be equally divided between them. And it is my Will & Desire, that my Executors hereafter named, keep my Estate together & employ the Same to support, maintain & educate my Children until they, or either of them, shall arrive to the Age of twenty one Years, or marry, then to be divided by my Executors, & each Childs portion delivered, as above bequeathed, unto them; but in case two of my Executors shall decease, before the time, then the sd. Division & Delivery to be made by the Surviving Executor in Conjunction with two of the Court to be appointed for that purpose; but if none of the Executors should Survive then, the sd. Division & delivery to be made by three members of the Court, to be appointed for that purpose. It is likewise my Will & Desire, that what Money arises out of my Estate more than will maintain & Educate my sd. Children., be applyed to purchase young Negores for my sd. Children. Likewise It is my Will & Desire that my Executors sell such of my Lightwood Lands, as shall become useless to my Estate, both the Lands At Brush Fare, & wch I took up in conjunction wth Jos. Hardee, and likewise the perishable Moveables, reserving the Leather Chairs & three of the best Feather Beds & Furniture, & also the Mill situated on the Herring Run. It is likewise my Will & Desire that my Executors bring up my Son's to some reputable Calling, according as their Genius shall incline, likewise it is my Desire that my Executors procure Gravestones for all my deceased Friends that ly buried in my Plantaion.

And, I do hereby constitute, authorize & appoint my trusty Friend, Walley Chauncy, my trusty Friend James Bonner, my trusty Friend, John Hardee, & my trusty Friend, Edwd. Salter, Executors of this my last Will & Testament, hereby revoking all former & other Wills by me made.

In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal, This 20th day of May, 1752.

At a Court held at Bath Town for the said County, at the Court house, on the second tuesday in December, and 12th. day of the same Month, Anno Dom., 1752.

Present his Majesty's Justices.
These arc to certify that Griffith Howell, one of the Subscribing evidences to the within Will appeared in Open Court and made Oath on the holy Evangelists, that he was present and Saw Henry Snoad Sign, Seal and declare the within Instrument of writing to be his last Will and Testament, and that the said Henry Snoad was at that time of Sound and disposeing mind and Memory; and that he also saw Samuel Boutwell and Anne Willoughby, the other subscribing Witnesses sign their names thereto at the same time. Then Walley Chauncy and John Hardee, Exors. of the said Will appeared in Open Court and took the Oath of Exors, in due form. Wbereupon it was Ordered by the said Court that Mr. Secretary have notice thereof that Letters Testamentary Issue thereupon as the Law directs.

Roper.

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my Son, Wm. Snoad, a Certain tract of Land Containing Six hundred & Forty Acres of Land lying on the west Side of the mouth of white oak River, & on Queens Creek, & was taken up by Capt. Joell Martin; & I give & Bequeath unto my Son, Wm. Snoad, a Certain tract of Land Containing one hundred Acres Lying on the North Side of Pamplico River & was by me purchased of Thos. Norcom; and I Give & Bequeath unto my son, William Snoad, one Moiety of a Certain tract of Land Containing Six hundred & Forty Acres, lying on the north side of Pamplico River & was by me purchased of Wm. Little, Esqr., & by him purchased of Thos. Roper; and I Give and Bequeath unto my Son, Wm. Snoad, a Certain tract of Land Containing Six hundred & Forty Acres, lying on the north Side of pamplico River and In the Fork of Moy’s Beaver Dam.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Son, John Snoad, one Moiety of a Certain tract of Land containing Six hundred and Forty Acres of Land, lying on the North Side of pamplico River on the west side of Grindell Creek, & was by me purchased of Wm. Little, Esqr., & by him purchased of Thos. Roper.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my well Beloved wife, Elizth Snoad, my Negro Man Robin & his wife Africa, my Negro man Aungus & his wife Hannah, & my Negro man London.

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my Son, Henry Snoad, my Mullato man Pompey, and my Negro man Huffey.

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my Son, Wm Snoad, my Negro man Kent, and my Negro man Salem.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto my Daughter, Mary Snoad, my Negro man Windsor & his wife Rose.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my Daughter, Anne Snoad, My Negro man Will & his wife Venus.

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter, Elizth Snoad, my Negro man Patrick and his wife Martha.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my son, John Snoad, my two Negro Children, Vizt: Virgill and Homer.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my Daughter, Sarah Snoad, My two Negro Children, Scanderbeg & Tamerlane.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto my Son, John Snoad & my Daughter, Sar------Snoad, my Negro Man Cato, to be Equally
Divided Betwixt them.

Furthermore, itt is my will that none of these Legacies are to be Delivered till the Afsd. Children are of Age, or till the Day of Marriag.
Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my well Beloved wife Elizth Snoad, two of the Largest & one of the Smaller Feather Beds w'th Furniture, & one of the Sack Bottom Bedstea------.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my son, Henry Snoad, one Feather Bed with Furniture.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Son, Wm. Snoad, one Feather bed "nith Furniture.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter, Mary Snoad one Feather bed w'th Furniture.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter, Anne Snoad, one Feather bed with Furniture.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter, Elizth Snoad, one Feather bed w'th Furniture

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my well beloved wife, Eliz'th Snoad, All the pewter, brass & Iron potts that I had by her, likewise the Chest of Drawers Standing In the new Chamber and the table Standing in the New ro'm.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Son, Henry Snoad, Vizt: all the Chairs, Tables, Chests, Chest of Drawers, Desks, Pictures, books, Silver Spoons, Tea Spoons, Pewter, Brass, Iron potts and Kettles & what did belong to me, as also the New Gun hanging over the Middle room Door and my small sword and belt.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Son, Wm. Snoad, My Hangers, Hanging In the new Room.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Son, Henry Snoad. & my Son, Wm. Snoad, all my Cloaths and Saddles to be Equally Divided Between them.

Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter, mary Snoad, my New Side Saddle.

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my well Beloved wife, Eliz'th Snoad, all the Cattle, horses, Mares, hoggs &c, that Runs at Rumney Marsh, and a third part of the Sheep.

Item, The rest of my Cattle, horses, hoggs, Sheep &c, to be Equally Divided Amongst my Children, Henry Snoad, Wm. Snoad, Mary Snoad, Anne Snoad & Eliz'th Snoad.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my Son, Henry Snoad, the my Part of the Great Pettiauger.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto my Son, Wm, Snoad, my little Peteiauger.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto my Son In Law, John Fry, my black mare Branded I—I—I S.

Item, I likewise Give & Bequeath unto my Well Beloved wife, Eliz'th Snoad, a third part of Debts that is Due to me at the time of my Decease, the paying a third part of Charges For Collecting; & I give & Bequeath unto my well Beloved wife Eliz'th Snoad, a third part of Merchandize I shall be possest w'th at that time, Either at home or abroad; & a third part of Bottles, Earthenware &c.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto my well beloved wife, Eliz'th Snoad, one of my plows.

Item, I give & Bequeath unto my Son, Henry Snoad, my three Mills & my Cross Cutt Saw.

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my well beloved wife Eliz’th Snoad, my horse Cartt.

Item, I Give & Bequeath unto my Son Henry, Snoad, my two large Looking Glases.
Furthermore, itt is my will that my son, Henry Snoad, shall pay unto my Children the Sum of Sixty pounds when they are of age or att the Day of Marriage,

Furthermore, itt is my will that my son, Henry Snoad, shall have the Care & Management of the Negroes till the time of Delivery as Afsd, he, ye Sd. Henry Snoad, Allowing his Brothers &. Sisters Vizt: Wm. Snoad, Mary Snoad, Anne Snoad & Eliz’th Snoad, a handsome and proportionable maintainance.

Furthermore, itt is my will that my Son, Wm. Snoad, shall be posscst wth the Benefitt of his Negroes att Eighteen years of Age.

Furthermore, itt is my will that all those Legacies that I have given to my Children is to them & their Heirs Forever.

And, I Doe hereby Consitutte &Appoint My Brother In Law, Wm. Martin, my Brother In Law, Walley Chauncey, & my Son, Henry Snoad, Executors of this my last will & Testament; hereby Revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof, I, the said John Snoad, have to this my last will and Testament, Hereunto Sett my hand & Seall, this 21st. day of June, Anno Dom., 1743.

In the Name of God Amen, I, Aron Spring, of the County Beaufort, and in the province of North Carolina, Calling to mind uncertainty of this Transitory Life, & being well Assured that all men are born to Dye, & not knowing how Soon it may please the Almighty God to Call me out of this present State of Life, Do make, ordain, Constitute and appoint this to be my last Will & Testament, in manner and form as follows:

Imprimis, I Give and Devise & Bequeath to my Son, Robert Spring, the plantation whereon he now Lives, & one hundred Acres of Land belonging to the aforesaid plantation, which said Land I give to my said Son, Robert, & to his heirs and Assigns for ever.

Item, I Give, Devise & Bequeath to my Two Youngest Sons, James Spring, & Abraham. Spring, four hundred & forty Acres of Land to be Divided between the two; that is to say, Abraham to have my manner plantation Up the Swamp to the Brirjk, from thence South to the Back Line; & all the Land on the North side of March, to my Son, James; which said Land I give to my Two Sons & their heirs & Assigns for ever.

Item, I Lend to my beloved Wife, Martha Spring, my manner plantation During her widowhood & no longer. Also, I lend to my sd. Wife, Martha, One Negroe woman called Sew, during the Life of my said Wife & at her Decease, that the said Negroe Wench & her incres to be Eckely Devide between My Two Youngest Sons, Abraham & James Spring. Also, I Give to my Wife, Martha Spring, one Feather Bed & Furniture, & one Whit horse, & four Cows & Calves, & one small Iron Pott. Also, I Lend to my well beloved Wife, Martha Spring, one Large Bason, & one Large Pewter Dish & four Pewter Plates, & one Large Chist, & one Looking Glass.

Item, I Give & Bequeath to my Son, Robert, one Negroe boy called Daniel, Together with what he has allready in possession, to him, his heirs Assigns for ever.

Item, I Give and Bequeath to my well beloved Dorter Dinah, which is know the Wife of William Jessor, Ninty Acres of Land lying upon the hed of Goos Creeck, and one Negroe Garl called Flory, excepting of the first Child the aforesaid Negro bringsTo be given to my Son, James Spring.

Item, I Give, Devise & Bequeath to my Son, Aron Spring, one Negroe Boy called Seasor, & one Feather Bed & Furniture, & Two Cows & Two Earlings, & Two Ews & Two Lambs, & four Sows, and pigs, & one new Gun, one Chist, & one Large Iron pott hooks, I give to my sd. Son Aron & his heirs & Esignes for ever.

Item, I Give, Devise & Bequeath to-my well beloved Dorter, Elizabeth Spring, one Negroe Girl called Prudence. & one Feather Bed & Furniture, to her my sd. Daughter, Euz: Spring, & her heirs & Esignes for Ever.

Item, I Give to my Cusen, James Magee, Two Cows & Two Erlings, to him for Ever.

Item, after the deces of my Loveing Wife, Martha Spring, that then the remander part of my Estate, whih is not all Redy Espeshely Given, I desive & Give the same between my four Children hereafter named, that is to say, Aron & Elizabeth, and James, and Abraham Springs, Which the forsaid Articlkes, I Give Devise & Bequeth to my four Children here-two Befor mentioned & to tber heirs & Assigns for ever.

I Do appoint my Brother in Law, John Barrow, & my Son, Aron Spring, to be Executors of this my Last Will & Testament.
In Testimony hereof I have hereunto Set my hand & fixed my Seal this IStb. Day of April, in the Year of our Lord God 1755.

The last Will & Testament of Aaron Spring dec'd was exhibited into court, & Proved by Thomas Barrow, one of the Subscribing Witnesses thereto, who swore that he saw the sd Aaron Spring execute the same & that he was at the time of sound & disposing mind 4c memory; & that he saw Littleton Eborne, Jim. the other Subscribing Witness set his hand thereto at the same time. Whereupon John Barrow, &. Aaron Spring qualified as Executors to the said Will according to Law. Ordered that the Secretary have Notice that Letters Testament, may Issue.
