FOREST CITY -- Cpl. Ebert, 21, died in service to our country, September 17, 2004 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Rev. Bruce Koontz and Chaplin John Cohen officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. A gathering for family and friends will be held at The Chase High School Cafeteria following the graveside service.
He was born February 8, 1983 in Portsmouth, VA. During his service in the military, he received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Deployment Medal, Combat Action Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expedition Medal.
Survivors are his father, Gail Allen Ebert of Forest City, NC; mother, Shirley Ivey Ebert of Union Mills, NC; brothers, Roger Anthony Kaid of Forest City and Cpl. Brian David Ebert of Kaneohe Bay, HI; fiancee, Tracy Dixon of Lusby, MD; and grandmother, Pearl Ebert of Marion, IN.
Memorials are requested to The American Red Cross.
