WINSLOW, Warren, a Representative from North Carolina; born in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, N.C., January 1, 1810; was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1827; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Fayetteville; member of the State senate, and served as speaker; Acting Governor of North Carolina in December 1854; elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fourth, Thirty-fifth, and Thirty-sixth Congresses (March 4, 1855-March 3, 1861); died in Fayetteville, N.C., August 16, 1862; interment in Cross Creek Cemetery.

WINSLOW, WARREN, lawyer, state senator, congressman, governor, was born Jan. 1, 1810, in Fayetteville, N. C. In 1854 he was appointed a confidential agent to Madrid on business connected with the Black Warrior affair; and during his absence abroad was nominated for the senate of North Carolina. He was elected a member thereof, and placed in the chair of speaker; and while in that position Governor Reld was elected to the United States senate, and the duties of governor devolved upon him. He was elected to the thirty-fourth congress; and was reelected to the thirty-fifth and thirty-sixth congresses. He died June 11, 1862, in Fayetteville, N. C.
