FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. LAURA SAMPLE
Mrs. Laura Chandler Sample, wife of Dr. R.C. Sample, and the daughter of Mrs. E.E. Chandler and the late Mr. Chandler, of Charlotte Court House, died suddenly at her home in Hendersonville, N.C., about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10th.  Her death was ascribed as an heart attack.  She had not been ill previously and had been visiting a neighbor a few minutes before her death.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Thomas Shepherd Memorial Chapel, with burial in Oakdale cemetery in Hendersonville.  The rites were conducted by her pastor, Rev. L.T. Wilds.  Active pallbearers were L.A. Blair, J.H. Lampley, William F. Stokes, J.W. Carson, W.B. Hodges and P.M. Dietz, all of Hendersonville.  Honorary pallbearers were members of the Henderson County Medical Society.
Mrs. Sample was a native of Halifax County.  She attended school in Maxton, N.C., and continued her education at Floral McDonald College, Red Springs, N.C., and Queens College, N.C.  She is survived by her husband, Dr. R.C. Sample, Hendersonville, N.C.; a son, Corporal Robert C. Sample, Jr., now stationed in Germany with the Army Air Forces; a daughter, Miss Joan Sample, of Hendersonville; her mother, Mrs. E.E. Chandler of Charlotte Court House, and four sisters: Mrs. T.P. McNair and Miss Gladys Chandler of Charlotte Court House; Mrs. R.H. Evans of Arlington, and Mrs. D.N. McLaughlin of Rowland, N.C.
