Adams, Leonard Wade
MOORESVILLE -- SSgt., 42, of Pleasant Grove Lane, died Sunday, January 23, 2005, in Iraq. Born May 2, 1962, in Vance County, NC, was the husband of Michelle Ray Adams of Mooresville and son of Robert Van Adams, Jr. and Shirley Williamson Adams, of Raleigh.
Len attended Western Carolina University where he received a four year degree in Sports Management and Business. He joined the North Carolina Marine Reserves and later transferred to the North Carolina Army National Guard. Len served over 20 years in the military. He was proudly serving his country in Iraq at the time of his death.
Len moved to Mooresville in the 1980's where he owned and operated Adams Fitness Center until he sold it in 1994 at which time he began working for Freightliner of Cleveland, where he remained employed until his death.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Len is survived by daughter, Lauren Nicole Adams; son, Brandon Griffin Adams; and stepdaughter, Taylor Blake Dyson, all of Mooresville; brothers, Robert Van Adams III and wife, Shanon Lee Adams, of Greenville, SC; Bradley Ryan Adams and wife, Stephanie Barton Adams, of Raleigh; nephew, Christopher Lee Adams; nieces, Melissa Lynn Adams and Hannah Corrinne Adams; father-in-law, Howard Michael Ray and wife, Anne, of Mars Hill; and mother-in-law, Mary Ann Wheeler and husband, Jim, of Weaverville.
The plans are for the family to receive friends from 6 - 9 PM, Saturday, January 29, 2005, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM, Sunday, January 30, 2005, at Southside Baptist Church, Mooresville, with burial following in Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. Chaplain Benjamin Hodge and Pastor David Alexander will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial trust fund has been set up with Piedmont Bank of Mooresville to assist the remaining soldiers of Len's unit in Iraq. Piedmont Bank's contact information is P.O. Box 3098, Mooresville, NC 28117, Attn. Plaza Drive Branch.

Ash, Blair Eliason Mrs. age 44 yrs old, wife of Ludwig Ash died Dec 15, 1917 from a self inflicted knife wound. she was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. W.A Eliason along with her husband. Buried in the Oakwood cemetery.

Aston, Cordella G. Mrs - age 86 years. Died Dec. of 1917 at her home in Asheville. Wife of the late Judge Aston and mother-in-law of Mr. F. Strikeleather who is a native of Iredell Co.
