Bailey, S.C.F- Mrs. age 75 years, Died at her home at Stony Point July 20, 1917 She was the wife of Mr. T.A. Bailey, who survives along with a daughter; a sister Mrs. L.E. Lyon of Statesville. She was the daughter of the late A.P. Sharpe of Snow Creek section of Iredell Co. Buried at Snow Creek Church.

Ballard, L. D. - age 61 years,wife of Rev. L.D. Ballard died at her home at Mazeppa Dec 17,1917 Survived by her husband , a sister at Kannapolis abd 4 brothers George Sloop of Davidson ,Meck Co, Henry, Hiram and William Sloop of Mooresville. Funeral services at Triplett  Church at Mazeppa

Barkley, Ed - 41 years, Died Feb 1, 1918, at his home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Son of J C Barkley of Hillboro Ill. His father was reared in the Statesville vicinity. Buried at Hillsboro. Survived by his wife and adopted daughter, parents and one sister Miss Bertha Barkley of Hillsboro.

Bentley, William - Died Dec 14, 1917 at his home near Sulphur Springs in Alex Co. Survived by his wife and two daughters. Buried at Little River Church.

Bingham, Thomas - age 72 years, Died at his home in Watauga co June 28, 1917 He was a brother of the late Harvey Bingham, of Statesville. He was a civil war vet. Miss Aurora Rash, daughter of Alfred Rash and 2 small children. Buried at Union Grove Church.

Blankenship, Fuller - Age about 26 years. Died at the home of his father-in-law Peter Stine, Dec. 31, 1917 near Hiddenite. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Blankeship and brother  of Mrs. J. T. Sumter and Misses Lola and Marie Blankenship. About a year ago he married Miss Hessie Stine who survvies. Buried at Sulphur Springs Church.

Bowers, Toy Lee- age 18 years. son of John Bowers of Sharpesburg Township was killed Feb 11,1918 in a train wreck at Badin. Survived by his parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Buried at Hebron Church in Turnersburg Township.

Brewer, John P - age 67 years. Died at his home on Race St. Feb 18, 1918 Burial in Alex Co. Survived by his wife and several children.

Bruce, Adaline Mrs. Died Dec 3, 1917 at her home in Gwaltney Township at an advanced age. Burial at Pisgah Church. Sister Thompson and the widow of a confederate soldier.

Byers, Carl Augustus - Died Dec 6,1917 a Charlotte Hospital as  results of burns he received from a kerosene fire. Born in Davidson Township ,Iredell Co. Oct of 1869 ,son of the late Washington Byers
